Always a let down compared to home made or a good takeaway / restaurant.

I tried the beef one a few years ago in the name of nostalgia, it was disgusting ;)
They the boil in the bag curries? We use to have the birdseye ones as kids and the fish in sauce haha lovely they were.

Bhajis and prawn toast are two things I’ll never order or buy again after making my own. It’s 2/3 minutes work for something so much better than takeaway versions that it’s barely recognisable as the same food.
No mate, I try to make them exactly as you describe, crispy bits sticking out, it's rare these days to get them like that in a restaurant, usually just stodgy pre-made stuff, no different to supermarket ones.
Good shout for Pakoras, will definitely give some veg ones a go before I try with chicken.

As a special treat on a Saturday night I can just about stretch to £3 particularly as the local curry house now charge £36 for a takeaway for 2. Pre Covid it was around £21.They're in Asda but they're about £3, fuck that, they used to be a quid in B&Ms. They're shit but less shit than a pot noodle, apart from the time element involved in getting it to a plate.
