real ale

Theres a new beer house just opened, cant think of the name of it though, it's on Port St. Oh thats it the PORT STREET BEER HOUSE.

I'm not well into real ale but this place has a good choice and the barmen have cracking beards.

will have to try the port st beer house and check the barmans beard for yesterdays dinner remnants...uniform nice arran jumpers and do they sing folk songs aswell?

Whats the pub called opposite Salford magistrates?
30 odd ales on cask.

They seem to have very clean beards but they just look odd as the 2 lads look in their early 20's but with beards. I think they have been bullied into growing them by their new boss.

Had this about 6 or 7 years ago! They'd only sell it in halves because it's like rocket fuel!!

Beautiful!!!

Quite like a Porter. Ridley's Witchfinder is the tops in my book, it was brought back a couple of summers ago as a seasonal beer by Green King, who bought out Ridleys.

Also, another special from the little microbrewery in Bollington called Stormy Cloud of Amnesia (or something similar, I confess after 4 I could not remember much). Beautiful pint, around 6.5% I think but really didn't taste like it.

Harvest Rock straight from the Castle Rock brewery in Nottingham is a treat too, and the old Jennings brewery in Cumbria belts out quite a few excellent ones. Snecklifter being my personal favourite. The best pint I ever had was Snecklifter at the Travellers Rest after an 8 hour hike up Helvellyn and back. Bliss.

Not a huge fan of Robbie's beer, but Hatters is ok and Red Nosey is decent. My mates love Dizzy Blonde but I can't stand the stuff.

Two beers I have to mention for the imprint left on me, Imperial Russian Stout, which I swear is just stout with a good slug of vodka in it, and Orkney Skull-splitter. Both over 11%, both take some effort to finish the pint.

Also, this is a unique drink, served in a stuffed squirrel. Think it's been posted on here before, but just in case:

Which reminds me, anyone know any good on-line sources for buying real ale? Especially short productions and specials?

There's nothing I like more on a winter's evening than to get a couple of warm Bishop's Fingers inside of me.
