Real Madrid (A) | Post Match Thread

We’ve not won away from home in the champions league for 8 months.

We’ve not lost at home in the champions league for about 5 years.

We seem to have a blueprint, and we’re sticking to it. Draw away, win at home.
Thought the same. Our home record this season in the CL is 5/5 wins with 20 goals scored and only 2 conceded. Puts into perspective how good a 1-1 result in Madrid is considering we have only won 1 away game at Sevilla this season.

Imho we need to rotate for Everton then go full strength from there in. We do have a small Margin for error in the league assuming Arsenal win all their last three.
As for those flapping about last night ? I do wonder how many are the instant gratification kids born since the naughties .
Sorry but going to the last match of the season, yet again, might finish me off.

I think Real played in 2nd or 3rd gear for all of the first half and much of the second.
Why would the home team play in 2nd or 3rd gear in the CL semi final?

They were at full tilt to contain the game, and threw everything at us from am attacking point of view.

I don't think we had more gears either last night in terms of the game plan, which will probably be slightly different next week.

We've also got a few options from the bench to change the landscape of the game, where as I don't believe Madrid have. In fact I'd argue that they've not a player on their bench that would get much game time for us.

We've got a bit more to give in an attacking sense, where as I think you'll see a similar performance and plan from Madrid next week.

As suspected, it was a fabricated picture by a TV broadcaster, you’d assume Spanish, with no such touchline technology existing and no chip being in the ball. Mard arses. Ancelotti was even saying that the technology shows it was out, despite there being no such thing in existence/operation.

No opinion on whether it was definitely in or out, I couldn’t care less, but if you look at Bernie’s right foot, it is on the touch line (not entirely) his left has met the ball and is almost crossed over his right, given the entire ball has to cross the line it’s completely understandable for the lino (who had the best position) to allow play to continue, he’s not the same fella we had in the BM home game is he? Now he missed at least 3 blatantly obvious ones

I don't think ANYONE is slagging us off for conceding. If there is any criticism to be had (and I think it's valid criticism personally) then it is for us not doing enough with the ball when we had it. I don't think it was a poor performance, but I don't think it was outstanding either, by our standards. It's a decent result for sure, but nothing to be "buzzing" about, which is the other end of supporters' emotions on here.

Sorry mate, but the result is a bit more than merely decent. It's a downright good one, and there's not a single club in Europe that wouldn't have taken it at the Bernabéu, in the semi-final of the Champion's League. As I say, I haven't seen the performance, so I'm not judging that. And actually, I don't much care. When I've watched the match, later on, I might have some reservations. But certainly not about the result.

BT constantly banged on about how Madrid know how to do it in this competition but I just don't see it this time. All I saw was a team playing at home which was scared to death and it'll be worse for them next week. If it wasn't for their keeper and the shite ref then it could of been any score.

We were very reserved last night, a lot of our goals this season have come from direct play into Haaland but we didn't go that way, presumably to keep the ball and not risk their counter. We played more like last year keeping the ball and slowing the build up to control the game but we still created more chances than them.

We played that way because we needed to conserve energy and a draw was always a great result. We now just need to up the tempo and score at home and that's what we do best. They'll need to put in a massive performance and going off last night if they can't do it at home then I just don't see where it will come from.
