Real Madrid post match post mortem

Haaland again had little impact on the outcome. He's feeding off scraps but that's what great goal poachers do. He is a different type of player though . Once we have camped out on the edge of their box he's been pretty much corralled by the opposition.

Nope that was the first Champions League Penalty shootout. Went out on away goals vs Monaco and Real Madrid knocked us out in extra time a couple of seasons ago.

Saying that we gave it a go despite their shit time wasting tactics. Doku turned the game around and De Bruyne should have scored that chance and Foden should have done better with his too.

The less said about those two hideous pens the better!

Wtf was the black flags all about strange not having blue,as soon as it went to pens I knew we were done for,2 of the 5 subbed off De Bruyne and haaland ..

It's just tiny, tiny margins at this level. If you were trying to invent a frustrating leisure experience You couldn't invent one where people invest this much emotional energy in something ultimately decided by the smallest of moments.

Just played right into their hands. It was an awful goal to concede and Dias is culpable in the main for that for me. Completely got on the wrong side of his man from a nothing high ball and then hardly bust a gut to stop the cross either. Very disappointing goal to concede.

If we don't start getting him involved more or he continues his form in the decisive moments we might as well. Not good for either party the way he has played in 2024.

To be fair though I liked his involvement today and unless he was feeling something he should have never been taken off. His occupying of the defenders and presence in the box were excactly what we needed to pin Madrid back and when Alvarez came on we lost all that. In my opinion Alvarez fits us even less than Haaland does, masked by the fact that he can drop deep (and do very little because he isn't really that good of a player)

But it is not a popular opinion and I accept that
 
The better side by a country mile, even with a couple off the pace. Wasteful though and should have had it boxed off inside 90 minutes. We HAVE to be more clinical.

Allow a game to go to penalties and there’s a 50/50 chance you’ll lose. It happens.

Shuddering at the thought of Saturday though. Plenty of tired legs that we need to rely on against a Chelsea team with their tails up after a big win this week. We really didn’t need all that football tonight.

Anyway, I’m not going to fall out of my pram over this one tonight. They’ll go on and win this cup again now after playing with 11 men behind the ball for 115 minutes against us.

In an echo from my post after last week’s game. Bellingham is a twat. An awful, petulant, arrogant twat.

Whose idea was that? Did the club come up with shit? I was surprised there wasn’t a flag on every seat and then I saw these daft bin bag style flags being waved in SS1 and couldn’t understand it at all. That bus banner wasn’t the best either.

I had hope with the pens when Ederson saved one as I didn’t think he would get close. That hope was soon shattered by Bernado. Absolutely ludicrous pen given the situation.
 
In general I think we were great tonight bossed it and went out to a pack of cowards

To be honest. I and (well like to think) the rest of out supporters are as proud of the lads and club as I am. We played Real fucking Madrid and made them play within themselves relying on a roulette to go through.

Every player for them knew they dodged a bullet.. every single one.

Onwards and upwards :)
