Real Madrid Vs Manchester City Post Match Thread

Some of you are fucking cringeworthy.

Why this? Why that? 'Kompany lost us the game', 'Silva was shit', 'we cant close games out', 'the defence has been shit all season'.

We were playing Real Madrid at their gaff with a team bursting with absolutely world class quality and a phenomenal bench.

Look at the game with at least a little sense of perspective and proprtionality. Madrid are arguably the very best team on this planet (they beat Barcelona to the Spanish title). You dont just bowl up and roll them over as if you're playing Norwich at home.

It's like getting in the ring with prime era Tyson. Get a fucking grip and be proud of our boys and our club. We are in with the biggest boys now and it just wont happen that we swagger to easy victories like we do in the premiership.

We are learning. We've just had a great lesson from the very best teacher. It'll make us bigger, better and more savvy.

Bang. Fucking. On.

No it isn't, no matter how dark the days were playing in Division 2 we were there and we came back, great, but now we are a top club aiming for top honours and the mentality has to shift.

What was at stake? a win at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid was at stake. Top of the group was probably at stake, confidence and appeal around the world was at stake because winning at the Bernabeu would have send waves around European football, there was a lot on that game tonight. Never forget Division 2 no but don't bring it up to try and justify poor defending against Madrid when we were winning in the last 5 minutes, it's nonsensical and it's about time some of you actually focused on the actual game instead of trying to justify the loss by talking about Chesterfield, the perspective, we've come a long way, yes we have, but now we're here let's start acting like we're here instead of acting like we were playing at Walsall on sunday.

You've misunderstood. Your lot are the guys acting like this was Walsall, like we have some divine right to win the game. This wasn't Gillingham away, we played the best club in the world. Throwing your toys out after a loss is now pathetic. If we lost against Forest or Port Vale, I'd get your anger. But we didn't. We failed to beat REAL MADRID at their home ground.

As I say, there are many on here who need a shift in their attitude.

No we're not, we're acting like this was Real Madrid away, a huge game in the Champions League and that we're very dissappointed that we didn't win the game from 2-1 up or at least draw when Vinnie should have made a simple block, nothing more to it. You're acting like because we played shit teams a decade ago this doesn't matter and thus we should just accept it like we should be eternally grateful and never criticise or be dissappointed because we used to be shit.

That is bullshit, we were shit, we had dark days and they were dissappointing, but you are the one lacking perspective because this is our current season, this was a big game and we were leading and then lost it softly, we are now a big club and this is our current season, this is what matters at this present time. We may have lost to one of the best teams in the world, but we lead 2-1 with 5 minutes to go and we lost it softly, I don't think you get the point. If we were in Division 2, or the League Cup and lost to Port Vale that would be very dissappointing.

But tonight we're not, we were at the Bernabeu and we were minutes away from winning and we lost it, not to two unstoppable goals but to 2 very preventable goals, and for what we are as Premier League Champions the least some of us expect is for our captain to get his head on the ball when he should do, he made a mistake and it cost us dearly in the game which we are now talking about in the thread about the game. That's the perspective.

I've seen people tonight saying that they don't care where we were 14 years ago , that some fans are showing "lack of ambition " well-if you don't care about the bad things that have happened to this club then you sound just like a plastic rag who thinks that success and history are somehow born fully formed at any given point in a club's past(1992 in their case) What we know and most of them don't is that football has many downs as well as ups and it's those that make the difference between us and them . To ignore where we were 10 years, 14 years or whatever, is to do an enormous disservice to the players of the time ( no matter how bad we thought they were, they were City players)and shows a degree of ignorance of the progress since. Perspective and patience must be shown - they all know , as we do that it's coming -this year -next year -soon ,and we will be here to stay.

I think we're gonna give a few teams a right kicking after that, and won't be as nervous for the next big match.

Proud.

Disappointed but still proud.

Very upset at the conceding of the two late Goals but still very, very proud to be a Blue tonight. All those who think being where we were 10 years ago no longer matters need to go and take a long look at themselves. We have no divine right to win every game.

We played tonight with new players bedding in and a couple of our own greats bang out of form and match fitness against the best side in the World (not the second best - how many points behind were Barca last Season) and against a group of World Class players who have had a new one ripped by their Manager for poor showings this Season.

Tactically we should have given Maicon and Zabs later on more support against Ronaldo and especially Marcelo who was immense but apart from that it was just better players on the day. We should have been wiped out by half time but we rode our luck which ran out in the end.

Well played Hart,Nasti,Clichy,Garcia,Yaya,Tevez,Dzeko and Kolorov and heads up and better luck next time to the others.

All day I have been talking/texting/e mailing Blues that City were playing in the Bernabau. We all deserve this and lets enjoy the ride. A long way to go yet.

And what was actually at stake?

Well, 3 points actually in our second term of CL football.

Our Club was pretty much at stake when we were relegated to the third tier of English football.

So yes, get a fucking grip, and a little perspective wouldn't go amiss either.

Agree with this 100%. Needed saying.

We absolutely should be questioning any game where we are winning with 5 to go and then lose, regardless of who the opponents are.

Spot on post-match from Joe H.

Although he had a good game, Yaya's miss was the pivotal moment in the game, 2-0 at that point and it'd have been all over.

Fucking shame.
100% correct. Thought that at the time

We just needed to keep the ball for a few minutes after scoring. But it's not easy to do that. They pressurise the ball so much

We will have learned a lot, and unlike the Bayern defeat I think we will come out of this stronger. But this will have taken a lot out of us so may take a couple of weeks before we are able to hit back

In the meantime the woodworm will come slithering out of the holes we put them in

hey that was was an AWAY game, imagine when we have our say at our place................oh god shit why did i say that.....:D

We can beat them at home, we will be the 12th man and it'll probably be freezing and p!ssing down, the Madrid nancy boys won't like it.
