Recommend a Car

Looking at getting a new car later in the year so just doing some research.

Options look to be:

Mercedes A class
Audi A3
BMW 1 series

Any ideas on which would be best?

Good choice - is it hybrid or Full EV? Neither really. Well, it's a 'mild hybrid' which just means it's got a little bit of electric power. But to all intents and purposes, it is a petrol car. I decided that I would like to go electric but I live in a rural location and have a daughter who requires long drives to hospital at least once a week, so I decided to take this on a 4-year lease to give the infrastructure and range of EVs a chance to develop a bit. Hopefully I'll be in a position to go electric after that and would consider a Polestar equivalent of this car, assuming the range has improved sufficiently by that point.

I've had the XC40 for something like 10 weeks now and I must say I love it. It is a very luxurious drive (at least, compared to the Mondeo I had before!). Great fun and it has all the toys with the voice-activated Google controls etc.

Love the Mercs. Wife has a 19 plate A class from new, it`s never been a problem.
I have a CLA 22 plate from new, again no trouble at all. I`m just looking at giving my son the A class and looking to buy another Merc.

other than that I genuinely cannot see the point, complexity of these are horrendous, worst of both worlds for me

Good choice, we were torn between the XC40 and a Mazda CX5, I was in the motor trade and still have a lot of contacts at AA and both came much higher recommended than anything in the VW group surprisingly.

Missus is on her 3rd CX-5. Never puts a foot wrong and comes very well equipped.

The CX-5 is good as well.

How's the ride comfort?

I can wholeheartedly recommend a Porsche 911. Maybe a classic model like the G series but the 991 or 992 perfectly fine too. Even has 2 back seats for a liitl'un.

At last, sensible motoring advice is available on this forum. If you want to buy a car designed by Nazi's, go for the original, not some shit battery powered rubbish from a wanna be :-)
