Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

What else could they have said?

Even the fully signed up people to refs being corrupt don’t expect them to admit it on canera.

Well if I was interviewing someone who used a hand signal to show advantage & he pulled it back when a player was through on goal & his response was I didn’t know I did that…… I’d at this point say, “you need to know what your doing with your hands, you incompetent ****!”

It’s possibly the worst response, if he’d have lied & said I didn’t think there was an advantage. (Also the refs view was perfect cos I was in the south stand at a similar level.)

He blew before he knew Grealish was through on goal. It was a shite decision, but one he made. He doesn’t have the view the camera does.

He waved play on as he saw Haaland get up and play the ball. He must have thought Haaland had shanked it and he blew for the foul. Well, either that, or he was plugged into the matrix and became Agent Smith.

The audio doesn't support the latter. He just fucked up.

I don’t think he thought there was an advantage as such as there wasn’t any at that stage, I think he was waiting to see if there was one.
Prior to Haaland hitting the pass to Grealish, what was the possible advantage that Hooper saw? Haaland recovered his feet from stumbling after the foul, but then was in his own half with the ball travelling away from him facing towards his own corner flag.

What turned that into an advantage was Haaland hitting an incredible pass, but not one person foresaw that except perhaps Grealish. So tell me, what was the advantage that Hooper was waiting for as Haaland recovered from the foul, but didn't wait to see if it ensued after Haaland hit the pass?

Why would a referee think 'there may be an advantage' as Haaland stumbles towards his own corner flag, but blow for the foul immediately he swivels and plays an inch-perfect through ball?

His view at pitch level showed a ball going over & Grealish running forward & the defenders flat footed.

He didn’t at one moment say he didn’t think Grealish was through on goal, he’s denying playing advantage. That’s a scandalous lie, everyone there saw he played advantage.

As far as I’m aware, he did give advantage, but not for long enough for it to develop fully.

Well quite, what most refs would do (and wouldn’t be marked down for) is give the foul a lot sooner than he did. That he didn’t and then blew when he did is why it’s such a howler. He ended up actually making two bad decisions - if he’s going to employ wait and see then he’s got to give it longer than he did.

So I refer you to @Chris in London who sums it up perfectly.

Both in Spurs favour
