No, we’ve been through that already on this thread to the point of providing evidence in our game against Villa of a ref doing exactly that. Signalling advantage doesn’t mean you aren’t waiting for advantage to accrue still.
The guidance for refs up to level three is for refs to signal and vocally say to play on and still bring back advantage if it doesn’t accrue. That was actually written into the laws for all refs to do previously.
Nowadays the recommendation is for levels one to three not to do that. What most do is signal so that players know they’ve acknowledged the foul and then bring it back when it doesn’t accrue.
That’ll also be why Webb mentioned that he didn’t shout for advantage - the guidance for all refs is still to do the hand signal and shout for advantage. When they do that, that tends to be at the end of the wait and see stage.
38 minutes in our game against Villa to give a recent example of it being signalled and brought back. It happens all the time.
