Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

Thought he was shit both ways in all honesty. The Origi booking was hilarious. The funny thing is, it was Foden's prod to the throat that prompted matey to go down, of which the ref put it down to a debatable throttling. I don't think it would have been highlighted by VAR if the ref didn't give a red. In hindsight it was a funny chain of events, but the ref is completely inept. There was clearly something boiling on the pitch of which he was unable to manage.
HE was the cause of it, by design; it was no accident.

I guess a ref can be inherently biased against a team without it being a high-level conspiracy.
Equally the refs can be inherently shit in this country and PGMOL arrogantly refuse to act to change that without it being a QAnon-esque conspiracy.

Indeed the fact that arguably the best ref in the country is an Aussie is too much for the big brains at PGMOL.

You are never a blue
@Sir peace frog
I am most definitely a blue and having seen video footage of the Rodri Incident I completely agree with the below comment by @Iassel.
I won't comment on the standard of the refereeing for the rest of the game as I refuse to ref a game from the centre line of East Stand Level 2. They had 7 yellows and us 3 (not including Pep's) which seems about right, although the amount of cards issued is by no means conclusive evidence of a well officiated match.
I will say that in the dying minutes there was what looked like a clear fowl on Jack not given, but again that could be down to my poor vantage point.

We had 5 fouls, 3 yellows, and one red.

Forest had 17 fouls, 7 yellows.

They had a booking-to-foul ratio almost exactly half of ours (and that is not including the numerous fouls that Taylor ignored completely, of which I can think of about six off the top of my head, including two clear fouls on Rodri leading up to his sending off).

The red card aside—as I think most agree that was a stupid decision from Rodri to take the bait Forest (and many would argue Taylor) were setting for us throughout the match—his performance was at best very inept, and at worst, highly suspect.

And why would you agree with the strawman post from lassel when no one is arguing the referee should ignore the rules because it is City?

In fact, nearly everyone is arguing the exact opposite.

Those stats do not lie.

Just to add, I don't disagree with the Rodri sending off. It was the correct call.

What I am pissed off about is the way the referee allowed the situation to come to that, and I honestly think it was by design.

Because as much as I appreciate you desperately want to believe, ultimately PGMOL is a private business with employees doing normal jobs, not one of whom have heard or accidentally been CC’d into an email and leaked any details of this secretive scheme, which any journalist would blow the budget to get hold of.

Neither have any of the referees, linesman or fourth officials involved ever had one too many sherries and spilt the beans to a friend or family member. Indeed the closest we have come is refs saying they’ve been asked to retrospectively change their reports *after* games to reduce or increase suspensions based on Sky’s editorial line.

Of course it could be that Howard Webb has bought every ref a Bittium loaded with Encrochat to give them their orders and keep this nefarious scheme deep under wraps, but not even Mulder and Scully would take that one on, and I’m sure as much as we may not agree on this topic, even you don’t seriously believe it in your heart.
Have you ever worked in fraud prevention or studied it’s methods and systems at great depth?

Because I have, at a high level, employing both data analytics and detection research methods.

Have you read about various match fixing or manipulation scandals across football and other sport leagues across the last few decades?

Again, I have.

And I can say from years of experience and study that you are exceedingly naive if you truly believe what you are typing.

And I detest the moronic implication that believing their could be—gasp—corruption in the Premier League, has there has been in literally every other major sport league in human history, is akin to a Qanon conspiracy theory.

Rodri’s a dickhead for getting sent off but Taylor is an inept shithouse and one of the worst refs in the country. The fact that fans of many clubs reckon he has an agenda against their club says it all. He had absolutely no control over the game and kept making bad decision after bad decision
