Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

And there again, Liverpool looked onside there, the Spurs lad’s leg looked to be playing him on… dead quick decision, no likes seen.

Then Spurs go and make it 1-0.

Liverpool fans will be going as mad as us at the officials tonight.

That foul by Hwang was as clear a yellow as you will ever see. A bit of a bottle job by the refs there.

However, the fact they only added on six minutes should be a bigger talking point. We’ve had more added on in uneventful second half’s this season.

That second half had at least 5 stoppages due to injuries, 2 goals and several substitutions. The fact there was more added on time in the Community Shield speaks volumes.
If Walker had just gone down normally, I think the ref sends Hwang off.

Instead Walker reacted like he’d stood on a landmine.

It still should have been a second yellow, it was knee high, but Walker overrracted.

Same when Rodri got sent off last week vs Forest. White-Gibbs overreacted. No real consistency with the officiating.
VAR could look at that one though and could show Rodri put his hands around his neck.

VAR doesn’t look for yellow cards so it’s only at the discretion of the referee on the pitch. I’d that one could be looked at by VAR he’d have gone.

Bet Pawson has a Super Huge Bottle or Bottles of something with his Super Huge Kebab,Super Huge Chips,Super Huge Onion rings.! Fat Fucker, sweating like a pig in a bacon factory! Couldn't keep up with play!

I don’t think it’s bent, the ref just had a shit game. It’s unfair on all the good refs who work hard to try and do a very tough job as well as they can by calling it all bent and corrupt.

Pawson today was just shit.

If it was bent, the Liverpool lad is booked there and the game moves on and nobody brings it up again.
Well it’s bent when the ref goes to his pocket for a card and thinks “oh fuck I’ve already given him a yellow “…. Then realises they’ll be down to 10 and most probably game over. Nothing to do with being shit.

There defo seems to be something afoot with regards to refs this season. I think they’ve all been briefed to give us as little as possible and give the rub of the green to the opposing team. Opposing players are getting away with much much more, whereas ours have virtually no margin for error.

They certainly don’t want us winning it again this season, that’s for sure.

this is actually quite an important issue in the English game today, and one of the very few things PGMOL are not at fault for.

They tried several times to enforce strict fitness tests on refs to bomb out the old fat fucks refusing to retire with dignity and were forced to back down each time.

Subsequently the ‘fitness test’ is so watered down that you could pass it the morning after a Wolf of Wall Street style bender and thus we are forced to see guys like Jon Moss a few years back waddling around at the end of his career clearly 20kg overweight and never within 15 yards of play.

It’s quite sad to think back not that many years to guys like Collina who looked like they could do 120 minutes in a dessert and then run a marathon after.

People really need to evaluate the ref objectively. He decided to let things go early on and actually remained consistent with that throughout for once.

It wasn't a definite yellow from hwang but it could have been. however, he could also have booked both ake and kovacic before that incident for worse and choose not to. Then towards the end, Doku gets a second yellow all day if the hwang one was a second yellow, he didn't give that either so he's remained consistent which is all we want.

No issues with the ref at all today. Anybody trying to blame the ref for defeat today needs to take the blue tinted specs off.
Absolute tosh.

I disagree.

The challenge by Hwang on Walker is 100% yellow card no question. The fact that Pawson actually runs towards Hwang had me convinced he was going to send him off but when he saw who it was he gives a little sly smile and just gives the free kick.

With Doku I did think it was a second yellow and I thought Pawson would send him off.

But here's the difference. Doku gets sent off and there's a minute left so it makes no difference to the result.

Hwang gets sent off and Wolves have to play with 10 men for the entire second half and Hwang doesn't score the winner.

We would of battered them in the second half if Pawson wouldn't of bottled it
He could easily have given Walker another yellow at the end for getting involved with an aggressive pull when Doku pulled up the player.

If you're going all conspiratorial with the ref deciding the game is won, so no need to send anyone off, surely he'd have sent off a City player so they miss the game with Arsenal?

It wasn't that badly reffed. I thought he was a bit lenient early, but he got a handle on it when it looked like it might get out of hand. City had plenty of fouls given in dangerous areas, and even scored from one, so I'd have this as a reasonably balanced performance.

I'd expect more injury time, but then they've already rowed back from the crazy times of the first couple of weeks, so it's not a shock. Last season this would have been 4 minutes injury time guaranteed.

Piss Poorson. Had an absolute shocker. Lost control in the first few minutes and it got steadily worse. Needs calling out and why book some players for kicking the ball away but not others. Don’t get me started on all the fake injuries and the ball boys doing fuck all.

Even with the 3 bouts of cramp?

Just back from the game. Clearly we all had problems with the inadequate Pawson as the wolves fans were being the **** too, but wolves got what they wanted, which was completely disrupting the game by constantly feigning injury. The number of wolves players who died today was incredible and he fell for it every time. 3 mins first half injury time and 6 in second half was woefully short. Ederson would have been off if he’d time wasted like Sa. I also thought Hwang should have been off. Doesn’t hide the fact that we played terribly. Anyone who doesn’t think Godri is our best player is very wrong, and I guess no Godri, Kev, Bernardo and Gundo really caught up with us today.
