Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

But the point still stands, how did that take so long?
They wanted to make sure they got it right. Other sets of fans of our rivals might say they were looking for any excuse not to send him off.

I’ve watched rugby for decades and sometimes they take ages to come to the decision the ref sent it up as… but as long as they get it right

It was nice to see Pep have a little moan re Taylor but could have been a lot stronger with it saying we always have issues with him, look at Arsenal away last season, Dippers away etc and be more forcible on how they escaped cards especially early on which tends to be a constant theme in games with us and players need more protection.
We need to officially complain about some of these refs more often.
Send Webb a highlight reel asking him to explain the non fouls given on us, non yellows to Forest etc

Yeah. I’m in agreement that they made the right decision - but fact is, it shouldn’t have taken as long as it did. The only reason it’s taken that long is if there’s a grey area in the actual incident like I mentioned in the original post.

Not sure if it's been said but if Taylor was officiating to the LOTG it would not have got as far as it did with Rodri as he would have blown for the foul by Gibbs when he barged Rodri in the back who then got up and won the ball back and was then fouled again by Gibbs. The barge was a clear foul but he let it go because it was a foul by a Forest player and he let a lot of rough play by Forest go. In other words game management by the whistling wanker.
Will watch it again now to make sure my post is correct.

Rodri was kicked on the ankle a few moments before the sending off. Taylor did bugger all which led to afters. Poor refereeing caused all the problems. 7 yellows given to Forest tells you all you need to know about their tactics.

This is exactly as I saw it. Penalise the first foul by Gibbs, and that's the end of the matter - no second foul, no red card. What possible advantage could city have gained from playing on after the first foul? None.

Remember when referees used to pride themselves on their management of games? Trying to make sure games finished with 22 players was one of their game targets. Taylor was the antithesis of this notion. I think he can be a good referee, but he rarely is a good referee in our games.

Take the infamous David Luiz incident. He is about to blow for a foul, reaching for a card in his pocket, then changes his mind for some unknown reason. Compare the Delph sending off and the Ederson penalty. No dithering, instantly decides those 50:50 decisions against us.

These, and other incidents cannot be said to be clearly and obviously wrong, so nobody really will pay any attention to them. But if you analyse his performances for all games, I am sure patterns will emerge, showing that for similar incidents involving other teams, he is more lenient. I hope City are using some of their analysts to scrutinise Taylor's performances.

He might be an Altrincham fan within a family of United fans. He might be a United fan within a family of United fans. It doesn't really matter which, but his performances when refereeing us strongly suggest he definitely has no sympathies with City.

When was the last time Taylor gave us the benefit of the doubt about anything on the pitch? When was the last time you said to yourself, "Wow, we got away with one there"? I'm struggling to think of one.

A low key disgrace of a performance but still an absolute fucking disgrace. Did absolutely fuck all to stem their persistent fouling, Nunes got fouled 5 times in his first 5 mins on the pitch, booked Akanji for dissent but let Gordon off for charging up to him screaming in his face asking for a yellow for Kalvin.

Foden rugby tackled to the ground from behind late on and this **** just waves play on - summed up his night

Off topic but the only performance worse than the ref’s tonight was from the thick as fuck gleeful comms - sickening pair of cunts.
