Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

Not really if someone had a bet on 7-2, or 6-3, it's simply not his decision (unless he had a bet on 6-2 obviously).

Personally I couldn't care less, I don't bet, but there are rules to be obeyed.
Referees have blown on 90 mins in knockout games when they are totally dead for decades.

Are you suggesting they shouldn’t do that because punters have had bets on certain outcomes?

How about those punters who bet on zero injury time?

Yes mate, it's not fair on those putting their money on "certain outcomes".

Anyone doing that these day's would be an idiot, as 3 is normally a minimum, perhaps someone had bet on 3 minutes, so they've been done too.

Like I said, I couldn't care less, but it should be questioned why he added nothing, there were a number of subs, and a number of goals, so it wasn't zero, and he's not allowed to create his own rules.

He added nothing because the game was done. Goal difference didn’t matter and it minimised player injury.

Betting outcomes should never be part of a referee’s decision making.

I find it ludicrous that the main taking point has been this.

It’s only this because people want to undermine injury time numbers going forward.

It’s irrelevant to tonight’s game.

I agree they shouldn't, and it probably wasn't, but if it was my winnings (don't bet, so couldn't care less) I'd be annoyed.

It isn't.

It is.

The thing is it's not up to him, if it's 1-1 on Sunday, with us pressing for a winner, and whoever the idiot is, decides to do that, will you still back him, when it's quite obviously wrong ?

Knock out football is not equal to league football.

Whether a punter is annoyed at his bet not coming in is irrelevant.

No injury time tonight isn’t an anomaly. It’s quite common in dead knock out games.

None of that is the point, there are rules.

Anyway my wines run out so you can have the last word, I'm going to watch the highlights of what I though was a great football match, one of the best I've enjoyed in a few years, thanks to our opponents, and the referee, who mostly had a very good game imho.

Enjoy.

Hopefully it isn’t spoiled by the injury time not being what you had decided it should be.

And it proves there’s do as they please. You can’t just change the rules because the result is done. Pathetic

The fact these things are so emotive shows why all the officiating threads are emotive echo chambers.

We won 6-2. Any injury time was totally irrelevant.

All it would have done is increase the chances of our players getting injured.

Why are we even conversing about having more injury time tonight?

It’s the rules of football. You can’t just decide there’s no seconds of injury time just cos a team is getting battered. Which law of the game is that? They make it up as they go along. Mary Mary

OMG. I agree with you. Stop it.

Amazing. City make 4 subs. They made a couple, the injury to Doku.... 3 minutes injury time.
Nope, Taylor thinks 'I'll show them how bent it is but there's nothing they can do about it' and he blows dead on 90.
Didn't matter for goal difference and apart from anyone betting on more goals in-play it didn't matter either, but it is cheating the paying fan out of a full game.

Thought he was equally poor for both teams last night but not just us as he usually is.

I don’t know if it showed up on tv but their centre back was fouling Haaland every single time the ball was played to him. I think he gave a foul once. Rag ****

He gave a foul a couple of times - and the first one led to the second goal in that the next time the ball was played in he didn't get so tight and Haaland was able to turn and get away. After that Ref gave some and not others - but bear in mind that Haaland (like every centre forward) is also pulling the centre back in because he wants him close enough to turn.
