Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

100% agree.

In addition, Hooper is on £80k+ per year, plus match fees and travel expenses. He should forfeit his match fee for this magnitude of a mistake.

If I was his line manager, I'd have him in my office to ask him his thought process that led to him playing advantage, then cancelling a clear advantage with no justification. There's no way I would accept "Sorry, my bad. I'm gutted. Won't happen again".
He’s on considerably more than that, daylight fucking robbery.

This is taken from ESPN's VAR Review, which is written with 'information from PL & PGMOL'

Review: It's not a decision that's covered by VAR, but it was by far the biggest refereeing incident of the weekend.

All referees will incorrectly stop play instead of giving the advantage to the attacking team a few times a season, but not in added time of the biggest game of the weekend when the scoreline is level.

Hooper plays the advantage, but changes his mind with the ball in flight as it is above Grealish and the Tottenham defenders. The referee mistakenly thinks the ball isn't of sufficient quality for Grealish to run on to, yet it becomes clear immediately after he has blown the whistle that the England international may have been through. Hooper's first instinct on the advantage was right, but he's then blown too early to pull it back having misjudged the pass. By that point it's too late.

Pretty idiotic to blow the whistle with the ball still in the air.

Interesting. With additional info from PGMOL, so this is based on what Hooper said to Webb.

It's just a stitch up. The best explanation they can cobble together to make it look like an innocent mistake.

I still don't think a referee should be allowed to change his decision to play advantage. But even if this is acceptable, he still should have allowed the recommended two to three seconds to assess how play developed.

I've got serious doubts about the integrity of both Hooper and Webb.

What a mistake to make, even worse the PL to charge City for the players surrounding the Ref anyone else hear.it on the news
They don’t have any choice as there is a set protocol 3rd time in a year so hefty fine I’m sure that City will be making representations to PiGMOL and PL about hooper but unlike some will not be sounding off in the media I done expect him to ref us anytime soon just like Maddley

I actually think Jack is a lot clearer than what others think, Davies who was closest to him would of had to seriously lunge to even bring him town.

The keeper is also in no mans land on the edge of the box nearly and would have only taken a chip over him
spot on , Jack had a good 5 ft head start and would’ve been inside the box by the time spuds defenders would even get close to him and if any of those defenders touch jack , it’s either pk or red . They had to think twice before making any challenge.

Here’s what Liam Gallagher said on Twitter “Don’t know about sin bins but if there is any bins going on that ref needs to go in 1 head first the bumbaclart MCFC LG x”

Haaland being charged as well for berating the Ref on Twitter

'Ball still in the air'?

Aye, after it fucking bounced in front of Jack.

Gaslighting cunts.

He’s my favourite ref. Daft to crucify him for one mistake. Got that decision horribly wrong but Jack wouldn’t have definitely scored anyway and overall he had a decent game. Christ people have short memories - there have been some truly dreadful refs at our place already this season. You could make an argument that he’s the best ref we’ve had so far.

Loved the way he fucked the dippers at Spurs and the contemptuous way he dealt with their complaints

He’s still in credit in my book.
Your standards must be extremely low
Overall he applied the laws differently depending upon colour of shirt, he was very quick to punish City players yet he allows Spurs to get away with identical offences I could make an argument that his performance yesterday was worse I’ve seen all season He has form as well
