Good performance from tonight's ref, didn't put up with Madrid's histrionics and let the game flow. They were a bunch of moaning so and sos.

Can't see him lasting in UEFA with this display of fairness and not falling for the level of shitehousery you normally get from these teams. Good ref tonight, missed a few (Phil near the end) but pretty good overall

Ref tonight got the 1st decision correct and issued a yellow card. He had no time for players falling over either.

He was fair throughout. No need for var and he controlled the players.

Only criticism was his uncanny ability to avoid giving Bellingham a yellow. But I suppose that was part and parcel with him ignoring RM’s constant theatrics.

Otherwise, aside from wishing he gave Foden more protection, he was one of the better referees we’ve had.

Tchouameni’s booking in the first minute was courageous. He knew what he was doing and gambled that he wouldn’t get a card, especially as the ref would know that a card would rule him out of the next leg. It was a deliberate foul, designed to test the referee from the start and set the pattern for the evening, with Real calling the shots. He called their bluff and faced them down.
