Didn’t really see that as double standards any more than the usual between defenders and attackers tbh.

The Silva one wasn’t enough for a penalty, the Haaland one was enough to disallow a goal.

He had to rule them out. One was offside and the other was a clear handball.

I am not sure "best" is the right word, implies a superior level of competence, but he seems to be the fairest with City. Anyone who has a problem with his performance last night is just looking for issues I think. Got pretty much all the decisions right and I guess that is all you can ask for. And, trust me, since the Rashford non-offside goal, I don't give any benefit of the doubt to the referees any more ....

I'm ignoring the var decision for now.

Don't think much of this ref, but most of his decisions were ok. The thing that hindered us most was the amount of passing options he managed to block in midfield. Not sure if he's a bit clueless or it's deliberate.

ermmmm one was clearly offside & the other has handled leading directly to a goal, both these are established rules/laws of football, the officials ‘do’ have to give them, otherwise VAR would intervene under clear & obvious, which I’m sure you’ll agree. Now I’m not saying Hooper was dodgy, but we have to ask how much of the actual incident was played to him on the monitor for a true reflection? If it’s just Haaland pulling his shirt then foul, if it’s the whole play then for me it’s a goal. It’s these minor manipulations that infuriate Pep, to the point of wanting to grip the official, it needs calling out by the club but now is not the time. All season clips of Haaland being aggressive, giving as good as he’s got have been played out on highlight reels on programs like motd, the narrative has been set that he’s a big bully & gets away with being overly aggressive towards defenders, it’ll get a lot worse next season

How are they different?

I thought the Haaland one was a bigger pull back. That coupled with the bar being different for attackers than to defenders, particularly if a goal comes from it.

If you flip the clubs around, I’d have been more annoyed had either decision gone against us.

The bloke took it over the line like a rugby player. I accept the ref could have given it but he would have looked the biggest fool in world and if Var didn't intervene it would have highlighted what a bent system it is.
