Ref Watch

Tbh if corruption was used just to get lfc and utd into the TOP FOUR then it's piss poor corruption. I mean why not make them win, anything? It just doesn't seem v likely.

The anger and frustration though.... Totally, it's getting to the point of switching off from football. They're literally ruining football with VAR just being there. All they've achieved is underlining their incompetence and randomness of decisions.

Fans/people want to feel assured by what they are watching and VAR is destroying that so much more than just "a ref getting it wrong " (pre VAR)

I disagree with your thoughts regarding the assistance for the rags and dippers but that it ok.

The only thing I am confident about is that things are not going to change anytime soon and games are going to be ruined by PGMOL's unchallenged influence.

They are the core of the shit shows we are having to witness.

The thing with corruption and fraud in general is that if you are too blatant/greedy your odds of getting caught are greater. If you were to take a couple of quid out of petty cash It's unlikely to be noticed, but if you took £100 it would be obvious straight away. If the Rag's had been gifted the title this season everyone would know it was bent.

It's a fine balance with betting scams. You want to choose a few games/races likely to have little or no significance, and then spread your betting out over them. Illegal syndicates have been doing this for years and it can be very difficult to detect. The rewards are huge. It's only when they are greedy they get caught.

I’d say it matters as there’s no way away fans (pre-COVID) can see how their team is being fucked over at that precise moment?

That's what I'm saying. The VAR replays in the stadium are next to useless. Controversial incidents don't get shown and there is no explanation, just the decision. A quick freeze frame shown for 2 seconds at maximum, no way to tell if you have been done over or not.

What is forgotten is that VAR pictures come from the TV companies. The TV producer and editor can selectively choose what shots are fed into VAR and there filtered through a controller as well as the VAR referee.

It is narrow minded to believe it is just about results and betting. Both valid but the real big money from collusion and corruption comes from media commercial sales and adverting. Beneficiaries of exciting or controversial football games are the PL, FA, FIFA, UEFA, TV companies, press, media, sponsors and advertisers from exposure and ratings.

Biggest losers are the fans and the game of football. Both are being cheated with delivery through referees and VAR. Sadly, many clubs are more interesting in exploiting football as a product with no interest in sport, as recently demonstrated with the EL debacle where none of the parties come out smelling of roses.

Wasn’t he the one that said it wasn’t a sending off on Jesus in the Leeds game then when he was he quickly backtracked, he is fucking useless.
In the Villa game he quoted the LOAF then later backtracked when he had time to re read it to say the decision was correct after a second reading .

Yeah agreed about greed exposing them. But then why do this with utd and lfc? Surely Brighton or West Brom would be more under the radar. It just doesnt add up, are they doing it for money or are they doing it to install utd back as champions?

Not really sure what showing or not showing replays in the ground for supporters has to do with the ref or VARs decision making.

The VAR replays for controversial moments at the Etihad have all seemed to consist of 30 seconds of the var logo followed by a ridiculous 2 second replay or freeze frame for offside which doesn't give anyone chance to actually see anything anyway. Pretty much pointless. Contentious decisions are not really shown at all.

As far as I'm aware Liverpool and Utd still have pitchside monitors for the ref?

Not showing replays on screens in the ground shows contempt for match going supporters who are less informed than anyone watching on tv.

Referees and officials cannot always see or make the correct decisions. VAR was meant to assist In critical or contentious situations or where there has been a clear mistake. In Rugby refs are miked and call out their decision and call for on screen evidence to prove or disprove it.

In football it is all smoke and mirrors. Clear and obvious errors are still made. Inconsistensies in applying the laws of the game continue. Worse is that changes to the laws and interpretations are being made on the hoof.

Liverpool and United have probably been the main beneficiaries of VAR. They are two of the richest clubs with two of the biggest capacity grounds in the Premier League. The question should be why these two football clubs are the exception by not having big screens in their grounds that can show replays when PGMOL and their referees only make token use of pitchside monitors?

you're mixing top down backing of Rags and Dippers remaining competitive and getting CL revenue with syndicates making money off the likes of Brighton/Palace etc. where they'd traditionally strike in the Saturday 3pm games nobody in the UK would be watching. You only have to look at the refereeing in some of those mid-table games nobody used to watch to see where they operate. 2 different things at play.

So it's everywhere, everyone's at it? That's crazy talk considering city have just won the PL for the umpteenth time and in the CL. Unless someone has cheated on our behalf?
