Ref Watch

If the on field decision was offside then surely it is up to the referee to review the decision, the ref did not look at the screen so how can var decide no interference. Howard Webb has said var should not interfer with on field decisions.
Plus I thought VAR checked all goals. At minimum, Attwell should have been asked to visit a screen.

We'll NEVER know the true facts of who gave it.

HOWEVER, someone other than Atwell seemed to have an undue influence on the outcome of that game today.

Agree they lay on Attwell who will be still be officiating in the premier league no punishment at all for a referee is so piss poor he gave a goal that did not even go in the goal! He is there go to guy for corrupt game changing decision for any game the premier want to influence!

So how did the referee decide there was no interference without viewing the video.

The ref judges what he saw - that is all.
VAR will only suggest a screen review if they think the decision is a clear error.

We already clearly have Walton agreeing with Atwell suggests that the VAR could as well, and then there will be no screen review.

At the beginning of I think this season we were told that in the case of tight offsides and if there was an immediate goal scoring opportunity then the flag should stay down and if a goal was scored then the flag would be raised and VAR would look at it. Remember the Mahrez goal against the rags earlier this season. Flag was raised after he scored and pretty much everyone thought he was offside. VAR looked at it and it was a goal. Foden was flagged straight away today because there was no immediate goal scoring opportunity. That said it was incredibly tight. Now this is where it gets interesting as the liner must have known Rashford was off and was at least two yards off so not a tight call at all. He couldn’t have seen any other player straight away to conclude it was an immediate goal scoring opportunity with a tight offside call. Have the instructions to the liners changed? Was he 100% certain Foden was off in the first half yet then decided that two yards off was a tight call as so no flag. Not sure why VAR didn’t check goal unless on the comms Twatwell said that whilst offside he didn’t think player was interfering. If that is the case then he needs to be suspended for the rest of the season for rewriting the LOTG mid season. Whichever way you look at it this goal has corruption / bias / incompetence written all over it and the club needs to raise serious concerns. Fucked over today and against Neverton. Coincidence, I don’t think so
