Ref Watch

The ref we had today - Robert Jones - is becoming one of the best refs already.

Didn’t agree with everything he did, but he was taking no shit from anyone all game.

Good to see him telling Luis to shut up a few times and booking Dias for running thirty yards to get their player booked. I know that was against our man and some people might be confused by that, but I don’t want our players doing that shit and hope that’s now part of the game.

More refs like him and the league would be better for it.

I wonder what new ways they can fuck things up even further and how to keep the rags in the title race?
To be fair, Brentford/we got a call yesterday that’s kept us right in the title race.

Looked like a dibble.

There are have been countless times where we got well and truly shafted (Rashford still being fresh in my mind). The thing is ref could put in a convincing impartial game when officiating us but next game he reverts to type when reffereeing our rivals (and PL favourites)

I’m not as OCD about time wasting when we’re winning so I wasn’t timing the stoppages today but they only added 3 mins in the first half. The incidents where their keeper feigned injury and their striker got clattered by Dias must’ve been longer than 3 mins combined and then you’ve got 3 restarts after the goals plus all the other faffing about to add on. 3 mins was criminal, it should’ve been at least 6
Would love it if they started giving injury time like the World Cup but didn't let anyone know how much added time there was .Be interesting to see how many leave then before 90mins when there could be another 12mins to go.

The Dias yellow was very like the Wolves one yesterday.

The following occur to me:
- is this a new plan?
- is it going to be applied consistently? tbc, obviously
- was it applied in every match this weekend?
- is Webb going to explain it publically?

I don't mind the idea in general, because there has been a lot of hounding of refs this season, however both occasions this weekend seemed to completely bemuse the player.
What is interesting is that United are the worst for doing this yet all of a sudden it seems to have stopped with them.
