Ref Watch

In the same breath Silva (I think) was lucky not to get sent off against liverpool for 2 yellows, like I said these decisions come and go for every team, we’ve had more than our fair share of luck and also bad luck, just like others have as well.

I’m as frustrated as everyone, but last nights result was down to the game management, not the ref. Yes RM should have had a player off, but Walker was lucky to stay on the pitch as well. Laporte was lucky not to get a second yellow

Why couldn’t city run the game down like European teams do? We seemed fine to time waste in the first half, but when needed at 85 mins+ their heads went and were unable to do so.

The ref blew his whistle 7 seconds early and people are going mad on social media about that, I think that sums up last nights result, a lot of people wanting to blame something for the result other than the poor game management.
You're taking to making things up that didn't happen to save your argument. Silva was not lucky to stay on the pitch, 2 yellows would have been corruption in the context of what Liverpool were getting away with. We are not saying every foul is a yellow. That shows you how blatant Milner's 2 fouls on a yellow card were if anything.

What is this Walker red card? Please don't tell me a shoulder to shoulder is ever a red card. It wasn't even a foul.

As for Laporte deserving of two yellows, you're just talking bollocks again(every foul's a yellow when it suits your argument... You're making McManaman sound neutral with your take).

Blowing early needs to be put in the context of about 3 minutes of football being played in extra time(supposed to be 30mins plus time added on) where City should have had at least 20mins to get a goal back and take it to penalties. You're being deliberately disingenuous with that take.

You probably think you've made good arguments and shown other people to be biased but all you've really shown is you're watching games through the eyes of a Rawk dweller by the looks of it. Nobody is saying City didn't mess up by conceding those goals but to claim the ref didn't look like he'd been swapped for a Real supporting double in extra time, to help them close it out, is dishonest. If you think City wouldn't have created more chances in extra time if they'd have been allowed to play some football, then you're lying to yourself or tuned in at 90mins. He was telling players to get up in normal time, then suddenly his whistle was never out of his mouth and he gave yellow cards for fouls that weren't even fouls(Sterling). There is no excusing that, no matter how much of your RAWK style spin you add to the mix.

Edit: It also comes back to your point about game management, City players were put on the deck towards the end of normal time, asking for fouls and the ref was quick to wave play on(actively discouraging even asking for fouls, never mind not allowing time wasting), while Real were trying to counter. How can you claim it was poor game management by City and good game management by Real... When the ref was the only difference?

I'm annoyed that City threw the lead away in such a short space of time because the ref wouldn't have been a talking point otherwise but they did throw it away and the ref did become a talking point. Why try and spin it, just to try and claim both can't be true?

Madrid were favoured last night by the ref cos they were playing us.
They will be punished for everything in the final vs the darlings, just wait and see.
It's that bent you can predict referee performances before a ball as been kicked
Just like when Chelsea played Barcelona and it all kicked off because of decisions in favour of Barcelona. When they played City in the final they got the favours. One game get stiched up, the other get the favours.

Chelsea were done that game, even more blatant than us the difference is we get the uefa ref treatment every year, just not as bad as that game.

Is this what you are referring to? I’ve never seen anything like it

Wow I have to say I don't think I have ever seen that happen in a professional game.

I also noticed when they were in the tunnel about to come out for the second half, he was might chummy with the Madrid players, laughing and joking with them. I know that happens in the tunnel in our league, but given the overall circumstances, and how the game played out, it all gives the impression that he favoured one team over the other.

It's just sickening.

I read this article before the game and didn’t think really think much of it. Now I’m not so sure

There was actually seventeen. Only two reds IIRC. One of them was for two yellows at Cardiff.
They were put in to get the right result.

The lino thought VAR would overturn the non forest penalty forgetting there wasn't any. EFL team would have given it and the result could have been different.

Bournemouth replacing Burnley would be a straight swap.
It's all about the right results, same as the right decisions, not the fair or correct decisions. We see it time and again how these decisions change games.

At least Declan Rice had the balls to call it as it is with Refs (thought tbh the West Ham sending off was correct) but wish we made more of a fuss over it, home and abroad:

West Ham say they are aware of a video that appears to show Declan Rice accusing the referee of "corruption" after their Europa League semi-final defeat by Eintracht Frankfurt.

The video appeared to be taken in the tunnel following Thursday's game.
Rice is filmed shouting expletives at referee Jesus Gil Manzano.

Hammers boss David Moyes and defender Aaron Cresswell were sent off in the 1-0 defeat that led to an overall 3-1 loss on aggregate.

"The club is aware of the video circulating on social media but will not be commenting further until the referee's report has been considered," the club said.

"Ref, ref, it's so poor, all night, it's so bad," England midfielder Rice says in the video which has been widely circulated online.

"How can you be that bad, honestly? You've probably been paid."

The early Casemiro challenge on de Bruyne was an obvious card.

The one on Foden is more complicated. The ref played advantage, and the laws currently are that a foul that doesn't stop an attack does not get carded.
If that challenge would get a card for a different reason (e.g. recklessness), it would get a card for that. It is certainly possible to make the argument that the collar pull prevented Foden backing up the attack and thus should have been carded, but it is opinion.

As Orsato bizarrely avoided backing Casemiro at all, the argument that he should have multiple cards is hypothetical and meaningless. No-one knows what he'd have done if the first one had been booked (and Laporte/Modric would also have been card-free).

That BT were incredulous as Sterling's booking and Foden's 'foul' on the bloke charging up behind him said everything about the decisions.

The Walker/Vinicius collisions looked like one shoulder-shoulder, and one where Walker was looking at the ball. As a foul would likely involve a red card, I don't think there was enough certainty to do anything. I thought both looked okay.

The only thing City seemed to get away with was the looped ball that came down on Cancelo's arm.
Bernardo should have been carded, tackle from behind.
