Ref Watch

It was the SAME lino who flagged Foden in the first half

So the lineman must be told to do the opposite for each team that only explains it! Because how can the same referee keep putting his flag up for foden just being offside then come out and keep his flag down for there first goal

Gallagher already pinned his colours to the mast it was subjective decision so offside or onside it’s the right decision! So I hope if he says that today they’ll say to him I thought offsides were not Subjective because you can be a toenail offside!
I cant stand Warnock but he might be quite useful on there today. He hates City, but you'd think he hates United more. I can't see him aligning with Gallagher.

This isnt correct, to give the linesman some slack. Foden’s was wide and not leading immediatly to a goal scoring opportunity. Rashfords potentially was. Thats the difference and they are instructed to behave this way in those incidents. We may not like it but that is how they are told to behave. The lino did exactly as he is suppose too. The ref however….

Agree but this is what Gallagher came out with and we thought offsides are not Subjective!? They make it up as they go along
They are precisely 100% wrong, yet they are doubling-down on their 'error', which is making themselves look utterly incompetent. Really, they are just affirming what we all know. The PiGMOL are BENT!!!

MotD2 showed it perfectly last night. They showed an image from behind the goal with Rashford taken out. Said it was clear as day that Ederson does what he has done a million times before and gets to that ball and clears it if it's only Fernandes going through. The fact that he's staring at Rashford at all times prevents him from doing this. Also showed that Akanji and Walker both altered their runs to accomodate Rashford. Shearer was trying to hide behind the wording of the laws of the game but even dipper Dan said there's enough in them to rule that as an offside.

for me it's all down to Rashford's influence on Ederson, not Akanji. Ederson clearly has to keep Rashford in mind, he cant see across the line from back in goal, Ederson doesn't have the same feeling for whether it's well offside or a VAR lines on the telly job, so he must assume Rashford is in play as he is steaming towards goal. Therefore Ederson is influenced, Rashford has clearly intefered. The little back lift of Rashford's left foot is just another reason to disallow. I cant believe this blatant offside is even being discussed in technicalities but it's where the game rules have gone now.

Whether Rashford touched the ball or not, he definitely impacted play because the ball was meant for him, he shepherded it, he ran with it… so why weren’t they flagging before it even got to that point?

This.
Rashford is offside by a mile & knows he's offside
As Rashford is offside & shielding the ball from Akanji, Akanji would have to go through him to get to the ball & risk a red card!
If Rashford stops running with the ball then Akanji takes possession & clears any danger. There is absolutely no chance that Fernandes gets anywhere near that ball.

HTF is Rashford not interfering with play?

Yeah that’s a fair point

Past the anger phase now, it's more just disappointment that we can have such shit officiating.

For me, this is a prime example of why the referee and VAR official should me mic'd up (as in Rugby, Cricket etc). There is simply no way that goal is given if Atwell speaks to VAR and says "we've got offside on the pitch as it looks as though Rashford is interfering with play. Is he?"

I know (or at least think) they didn't bother with VAR on this one, but if you're getting audible validation or contradiction that all the fans can hear, it would take the subjectivity out of it.

Actually, I am still angry.

From all the clips we've seen, virtually everyone thinks this is offside - even those with United connections. The only ones left standing with Attwell are referees who are still on the gravy train.

All the former professional footballers explain why in their experience, they think Rashford impacted on the actions of Akanji, Walker and Ederson. Gallagher, Walton and the squirming Foy think that none of those players were affected in any way by Rashford's movement.

The PGMOL brigade are closing ranks to protect their own. The referees think they are the most important thing in football.
So Rashford was 260 miles offside according to Foy, especially has he was shooting at Allison, who probably was still in the dressing room, what chance have we got with that thick monkey eared cnut.

Imagine they were Mic’d up Attwell goes to the lines man and say did Rashford touch the ball linesman no was Fernandas offside lineman says no Attwell whistles for a goal they can say what what they want to make a decision will make no difference

In my imaginary scenario, the conversation would've been like the one with 3rd umpire or TMO in rugby union, where they explain what they're looking for. So in this case, VAR would be saying words to the effect of 'we're checking if Rashford's involvement impacted Akanji/Ederson's ability to play the ball'. I'm not saying it would 100% guarantee the right outcome, but it would provide accountability to apply the letter of the law as closely as possible, which in this case just didn't happen.

I'm still raging.

It is such an obviously BENT decision, and NOBODY is prepared to call them out. This is the ABSOLUTE power that the PL/PGMOL have over the teams and the TV companies.

If this is what Scudamore envisaged when he alluded to his 'strategic plan' he couldn't have executed it any better if he'd tried.

But if you listen to Gallagher he said Akanji was not interfering with Rashford! At least swp said to him maybe Because he was a yard offside is why he wasn’t interfering with him!
