Ref Watch

Overall, I thought the same. There were some weird things, though. Play stopping for Joelinton holding his foot - when did that become a thing. Not stopping play after a nasty-looking collision. Then booking Ake for it. Blowing his whistle at Ederson when two up.

Btw, I thought you couldn't give a yellow card if you played advantage? Not sure why not, in all honesty, but isn't that the rule?

That exact thing happened in the Villa V Palace game on Saturday. The referee put his whistle to his mouth after a bad foul by Doucoure. Then realised a promising attack was developing and played advantage. Then when the ball went out of play went back and showed the guy a second yellow and a red.

Wonder what would have happened if the attack eventually was broken and Villa went up the other end and Doucoure had scored…while the ref could have blown after a few seconds if the move had broken down, there’s nothing to say they could have hung onto the ball long enough…bit like rugby Union when advantage only lasts so long..

It wouldn’t/ shouldn’t get that far. As soon as Doucoure looked like getting involved in play again, the referee should stop play and send him off.

I suspect the referee didn’t immediately realise he was already on a yellow, when he played the advantage. As someone else has said, while it can’t be technically classed as an error by the referee, it is very, very strongly advised that they shouldn’t be playing advantage in situations like that, to avoid the exact scenario you mention.

Nottingham Forest have apparently compiled a dossier and submitted an official complaint regarding the standard of referees. They are furious about several match officials and the decisions they made.
I hope every club outside the redshirt wankers does .This is surely the way forward to stop this systematic cheating going on which is ruining the sport.Im 64 and seen some decisions but the Rashford one still grates two months on, a six point swing.

I've put it in the football is corrupt thread but the other month Forest tried to get Andrew Madley removed from doing their games. The reason they cite is Madely lives in Huddersfield and was in the stands at Wembley as a Huddersfield fan for the play off final which Forest won in controversial circumstances. They were not successful and they lost the only match he's done 2 nil.
This isn't a complaint from a fan with a tin foil hat on, this is a Premier League club stating officials are biased/ corrupt (and being ignored)

Why would that be relevant unless he was reffing Forest vs Huddersfield?

Ref is a fan of Huddersfield but he can't ref Forest because they were given contentious decisions by a DIFFERENT ref when they played each other last year. Jesus, what did they expect the PGMOL response to be?

If you apply that sort of logic there won't be a single ref eligible to run any games in the whole country.

In a very strong field he is the outstanding candidate for Crap Pundit OfTheYear
