Referees’ Performances 2018/19

I don't even mind Spurs but you are one of the dirtiest teams we play each season. Fernandinho can be snide but your whole 11 is. Lost count of how many studs up challenges your lads have done on us over recent years.

The whole 11 is an exaggeration but I agree you definitely see the worst from us. Not sure why, maybe just because we are used to being the better team on a pitch and they get frustrated when being outplayed: pure petulance. Maybe.

Rose can lose his head, Vertonghen can be a nasty bit of work at times and those two last season from Kane and Alli were definite red cards. It was out of character for Kane and used to be sadly regular from Alli, although he really seems to have been working hard to get that out of his game this season. Lamela, Aurier, Dier and Wanyama can be clumsy at times (well, Lamela is a whirling dervish of clumsiness) but not deliberately dirty. Alderweirald, Sanchez, Foyth, Davies, Trippier, Winks, Son and Moura. Eriksen I would dearly love to be a dirty little prick, just once! As brilliant as he can be on the ball and as hard working as he is watching him pull out of challenges is frustrating.

NoApologiesForBeingSpurs has proved my point in the general Forum, (Spurs thread.) In that thread I asked why was it we could talk football with Spurs fans and not rags or Dippers. No wumming, nastiness or gobshitedness (yes that is a word) so welcome NAFBS to the madhouse (although I note you have been here since 2009 - gloryhunter !)

Yep, occasionally discussing football with the supporters of the best footballing team in the country is the closest I can get to glory. Such is the life of a Spurs supporter, but as the late, great Bill Nicholson said 'the game is about glory' ;-) You've got a good forum here and I lurk quite regularly throughout the season, not just when Spurs are playing you.

Agreed, they are the dirtiest we have played in 2 seasons,Rose was out to cripple someone yesterday

Was the only reason he came on.
"Danny, I'm putting you on the left of midfield"
"Can't play there boss, I'm a limited LB at best"
"Don't worry, all I want you to do is tackle as hard and as badly as you can, forget the ball"

But a lot softer than most of the ones we've been denied this season!! Sterling has missed out on half a dozen at least! And Bernardo, applying the same criteria that were always devoted to the Rags, and now the Dippers, would have had one on Saturday.

Hopefully VAR sorts out some consistency, refs will need to be given all angles though and City should invest in the best video technology for the Etihad. We should have had two penalty’s on Saturday and Spurs should have had one. With regards to the dippers penalty Salah makes the most of it, but I just don’t think any player should have both their arms around an opponent.

I've just added a bit of revisionism to better reflect the view from CLB3! The picture in the DT this morning shows the Cardiff player with two arms round Salah's torso. Stage One in totting up a pen. The laugh is, though, that as soon as some players are touched, without sufficient force that would bring down a 2 to 3 stone toddler, they lose all muscle control and just flop to the ground. Salah is the best exponent of this dark art since Ash the Crash.

Just watched from 60 mins onwards (34 mins) and there’s at least 9 clear cut fouls which weren’t given to us and that’s being extremely conservative. I counted twelve, three were free kicks but quite soft so I discounted those ones.

The stand out ones Rose diving in at Sane, not even close to the ball and nothing given, Vertonghan holding back Sterling while we was already on a booking so would have walked and Davies taking Bernardo our way after the ball had gone but the bent **** have Spurs the throw in. Dinho should have been booked for the fouls in the centre circle, professional to stop a break away but a booking all day.

How anyone can possibly look at that and claim there’s no corruption is beyond me, it can only be incompetence if there’s a 50/50 (roughly) split in incorrect decisions. Even looking conservatively it was 90/10 in Spurs favour that last half hour.

Well said.

These stats were posted by someone in the pre-match thread but I think needs to be in here as well

Looking at our figures we commit more fouls that every team we play against yet the stats don't add up &I can only take from this that referees control our games differently to anyother match otherwise our positions in both fouls committed & fouls conceded would be the opposite.
