Referees’ Performances 2018/19

These stats were posted by someone in the pre-match thread but I think needs to be in here as well

Looking at our figures we commit more fouls that every team we play against yet the stats don't add up &I can only take from this that referees control our games differently to anyother match otherwise our positions in both fouls committed & fouls conceded would be the opposite.

wow we are the least fouled team in the league, joint top with Brighton

I can understand we are the least fouled team as opponents hardly are able to touch us. We are simply to fast and our tactical nouse for position play is far above any PL-team.
However us committing so many fouls while having so much possession is weird. Than again we often try to regain the ball as fast as we can and that’s probably where we make most fouls with opponent players fast falling over when they get in to trouble.
And yes, lots of fouls on our players are being overlooked, especially when the opponent can still get a result.

But a lot softer than most of the ones we've been denied this season!! Sterling has missed out on half a dozen at least! And Bernardo, applying the same criteria that were always devoted to the Rags, and now the Dippers, would have had one on Saturday.
The one where Robertson rugby tackled sterling in the box in the home game this year comes to mind

Some fouls on our players are also not given because the ref plays advantage (often, rightly).
The harassing of players to regain the ball accounts for a fair number, but I would like to see a split of fouls between attack and defence - if e.g. Aguero gives away 10 fouls for pushes when chasing a throughball, it's hardly the same as if he gives the same number away trying to get the ball back.

Don’t think stats will go that far.

Anyway we all agree on that the standard of refereeing in the PL is beyond poor.

Think the need is to think outside the box fouls/non-fouls are consistently treated differently in our games compared to any game we're not involved in.
