Referees/Officials

Yellow card for brandishing an imaginary one, but what sanction was given to any West Ham player who immediately went over to Kevin NoMates when he gave the penalty. I don't suppose they were congratulating him for spotting the stoner! Or even suggesting in the politest way possible that the player concerned was Sterling and he only concedes them! They are pro-footballers and would be using industrial language. But that's alright these days since Rooney established the 'genre'!
and I quote;

CAUTIONS FOR UNSPORTING BEHAVIOUR

There are different circumstances when a player must be cautioned for unsporting behaviour including if any player not playing for Liverpool FC or Manchester United FC or playing against Manchester City FC:
  • attempts to deceive the referee e.g. by feigning injury or pretending to have been fouled (simulation)
  • changes places with the goalkeeper during play or without the referee’s permission
  • commits in a reckless manner a direct free kick offence
  • commits a foul or handles the ball to interfere with or stop a promising attack
  • handles the ball in an attempt to score a goal (whether or not the attempt is successful) or in an unsuccessful attempt to prevent a goal
  • makes unauthorised marks on the field of play
  • plays the ball when leaving the field of play after being given permission to leave
  • shows a lack of respect for the game
  • uses a deliberate trick to pass the ball (including from a free kick) to the goalkeeper with the head, chest, knee etc. to circumvent the Law, whether or not the goalkeeper touches the ball with the hands
  • verbally distracts an opponent during play or at a restart

Off Wiki:
Referee's discretion
The referee has a very large degree of discretion as to the interpretation of the 17 Laws including determining which acts constitute cautionable offences under the very broad categories. For this reason, refereeing decisions are sometimes controversial. Some Laws may specify circumstances under which a caution should or must be given, and numerous directives to referees also provide additional guidance. The encouragement for referees to use their judgment and common sense is known colloquially as "Law 18"

This amounts to any shirt largely from the 'red' end of the spectrum having favourable judgements and those at the 'blue' end putting up with the shit so often doled out by refs using their judgement and 'common sense'!

But I really would like to see and hear refs explain, having seen video evidence of their refereeing, why they took a particular decision and then varied it quite markedly with a re-enaction of a similar offence, often from the same game!

Dean yet again gave the opposition license to basically foul their way back into the game whilst making it clear anything of the sort from us would mean a booking.

Its standard fare these days that we will get shafted from the ref and today was no different.

Yellow for kdb was just amateur for a championship ref.

The only case for no yellow was that it was his first foul. He cynically tripped a player breaking away from him in his own half, 9/10 in the modern game that's a booking. No arguments there, only with the ones they persistently let the opposition get away with.

Stone wall penalty and dabateably a straight red for a studs up tackle.

He's given us SFA since the QPR match, the worst being the takle on Garcia at Sunderland.

Oh btw don't let that little act at stoke earlier this season fool you, he was on a personal agenda, and did his level best to even it up.

He missed few of those so called cynical on the other side.
