Referees' Performances | 2025/26

We got a yellow for every 2.66 fouls.

They got a yellow for every 12 fouls.

Tonali and Joelinton had 4 fouls between them that stopped dangerous counters.

Joelinton had a late cynical foul on Bernie that was given as a simple foul.

Bruno, Tonali, and Joelinton took turns kicking Cherki with no bookings.

The only yellow that was given to a Newcastle player was a very late card to Joelinton for a fairly run of the mill foul, especially by the standards of the match.

Their second goal was offside but given based on an inaccurate CGI assessment. And Donnarumma was obviously fouled in the build up.

We probably should have had at least one penalty.

This was easily one of the worst refereeing performances I have seen in a very long time.

So much so that this is my first post on here in quite some time. That is how angry I am after watching such astoundingly bad officiating.

Is it corruption or incompetence?

It’s hard to tell, but if it carries on as we progress through the season, it is ultimately corruption, either way.

In what league, year, era, universe is THAT ^^^ NOT a late, both feet off the ground, over the top, eyes closed, ankle breaker of a foul?

Anywhere else on the field, it’s at least a foul and a yellow card, if not more.

In what world do PAWSON ET AL NOT SEE THAT AS A FOUL?

Can’t wait to see what Red Specs Webb has to say about that!!
Anywhere else on the field and that’s a foul and probably a red

Why don’t every ground have 360 degree camera’s? That Newcastle line had to be made up by cartoon characters! And not straight line either!
????wtf ?? Why don’t we just let referees ref the game 360 cameras ? Cmon ffs

Me too . I think the referee was intimidated . That midfield were in his ear all game and Tonali got away with it all match . No idea why the foul on Foden wasn't a penalty either .
VAR is supposed to step in when he goes all Mavis Riley on a big decision like the Foden pen.

People are going to fuck watching football off if it isn't sorted. There's no consistency and the all singing dancing var cant get stuff right after taking ages to.look at incidents. The standards of referees is poor to say the least. It needs to go back to what it was originally brought in for, clear offsides, serious foul play and blatant penalties missed.
dive already fkd European games off No joy no excitement no impartial commentary Gone , fkd it off

Dippers and their media entourage have this in the news for a week. Every media pundit and reporter will be agreeing with thme it was a bad decision ans shoukd have been a penalty.
We get the talking heads saying it wasn’t even a penalty and the fucking clown we do have in the studio who is a an actual ambassador fucking agrees with them. It was stone wall studs up in his fucking ankle.
Never mind the fucking stone wall hand ball too.

Forget the offside. I've just seen the Dias interview and he states, and sky footage backs him up, that for their 2nd goal Donnarumma was pushed forward, away from the ball by Barnes.
It's a clear foul. Of the ref missed it why didn't Var see it ?
Big Donna was furious about something

Alan Smith was desperate for City to lose and sounded embarrassed tonight.
The commentators elation when they scored and shrugging of shoulders when we do is embarrassing, they are a big boy team with very expensive big boy players, not Blyth Spartans away in the FA cup

And you can guarantee there won't be the week long media blow up about it asking if it was the correct decision or not.

It'll be swept under the carpet and forgotten about by morning.
Just like the goalie handball that so influenced the cup final.
Just like the Rashford offside
It's got to be corruption - what other explanation is there?

The ref was a joke tonight, but I’ve got a far bigger problem with Pawson on VAR. That felt bent as fuck.
It absolutely did. As I’ve posted everywhere (!) he should be being stood down for the offside alone. In order to give that goal, He’s actually made up a new law. I only say that because the picture they’ve used, whilst clearly inaccurate, is using a part of Dias that law 11 actually says, in black and white, should not be used. Now, either he doesn’t know the law, which is bad enough or, worse, he does know the law…

offside is offside even after they took 10 minutes to knock up a weird AI graphic with a levitating Dias

IFAB LAWS OF THE GAME
LAW 11: Offside

For the purposes of determining offside, the upper boundary of the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit.

Picture 1: Real life

IMG_2627.jpeg

CLEARLY OFFSIDE, as shown by the RED LINE, EVEN THOUGH THEY DID NOT FOLLOW THE LETTER OF THE LAW BY USING THE ARMPIT!

Picture 2: AI AUTOMATIC OFFSIDE

IMG_2628.jpeg

Suddenly, THE LAWS OF THE GAME HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO USE THE WHITE BAND ON HIS SLEEVE, WHICH IS THE NEAREST POINT UP THE ARM THAT ALLOWS GUIMARES’ FOOT TO BE ONSIDE.

Of note, in this AI DEPICTION, Dias, who was standing in real life is shown in the air, apparently jumping!

BENT AS A NINE BOB NOTE…and no-one can convince me otherwise!

Honest question: Have they put him in the air in order to allow them to change the lines, given the perspective of the picture???

Yes they chose a frame that was later than the header, in the virtual picture Dias is jumping to try and clear it, this suited their narrative to have the goal allowed
I’ve always maintained that VAR manipulate to suit their agenda, being able to select the frame that shows a player on or offside to suit, this is clear evidence finally. Also evidence is how long it took
With FIFA auto offside and the chip in the ball, Adidas patented, this wouldnt be possible as the software works it out The PL use a Puma ball so they have to chose the frame
