Religion

Have you come across something like Thomas Kuhn’s Structure of Scientific Revolutions? In that he may speak along the lines that there can be a growth in the understanding within one paradigm, then enough data may come along that doesn’t fit in to that paradigm so there can be growth/opening into a new paradigm in which that data fits better. Obviously some may be so heavily invested in the old paradigm and so reject the new one. For me there is a faith in - that there are understandings beyond currently accepted paradigms. How beautiful is that? And the curious thing for me is that there comes to be a sense that how one chooses to see life can actually come to be a limit to one’s ability to understand life. To sum this up, one might say that a level of knowledge effectively comes to be a level of ignorance as one opens to a deeper understanding AND both ignorance and understanding are both seen to expressions of the same ’scale of knowledge.’ Cheers :)
Arfur i like you and i see what you are saying, but why is there zero real evidence? Why are there so many gods? Why do they all share the same characteristic, none of them have an iota of actual truth. Letting go of the delusion is a great thing it allows you to marvel at the majesty of life wthout the bullshit that a being is up there bothering if you crack one out. Or going to torture you forever, even if you were born in Asia and never heard of Jesus. Who wants to worship a **** like that even if he did exist?

Anyway, you look after yourself and Happy New Year.

Hope this clears things up.

He sewed his eyes shut because he is afraid to see
He tries to tell me what I put inside of me
He got the answers to ease my curiosity
He dreamed a god up and called it Christianity

God is dead
And no one cares
If there is a hell
I'll see you there

He flexed his muscles to keep his flock of sheep in line
He made a virus that would kill off all the swine
His perfect kingdom of killing, suffering and pain
Demands devotion atrocities done in his name

God is dead
And no one cares
If there is a hell
I'll see you there

Your god is dead
And no one cares
If there is a hell
I'll see you there

God is dead
And no one cares
If there is a hell
I'll see you there

(Your god is dead)
God is dead
(And no one cares)
And no one cares
(Drowning in his own hypocrisy)
If there is a hell
(Burning with your God in humility)
I'll see you there

Why might I call a tree a tree and a mexican call the very same tree ‘un árbol?’ Because they’re trying to describe the same thing but use different words? And that. at times, is how I see religions - arguing about who has the ‘right’ words whilst missing the point of the message. Quite spectacularly at times, it would seem. And, personally, I don’t follow a formal religion but if people want to try find their ‘light’ through religion then go for it. Equally if people want to find their light outside of religion, then go for it.

Beyond that, with what I wrote there is the suggestion that there can be a growth in awareness. And if the nature of this awareness is intelligent, then there can be a growth in one’s intelligence too. It’s not something that is decided at school and then you have to be a prisoner of this for the rest of your life. And as for the singing...what if that talent IS within you but is currently hidden at a different level of awareness, waiting to be discovered, that it may blossom ? Some fool on the internet might suggest that it’s hidden in your heart underneath the noise of the mind that tries to understand singing. That same fool might say, in your case, FUCK RELIGION!!! And go explore singing with a teacher that may know. And if you still fail? Well, you gave it a go, right? But that’s how i might look at it. Feel free to see differently. And happy new year to you too.

One, two, one, two three, four
Spineless from the start
Sucked into the part
Circus comes to town
You play the lead clown
Please, please, spreading his disease
Living by his story
Knees, knees, falling to your knees
Suffer for his glory
You will
Time for lust, time for lie
Time to kiss your life goodbye
Send me money, send me green, heaven you will meet
Make a contribution and you'll get a better seat
Bow to Leper Messiah
Marvel at his tricks
Need your Sunday fix
Blind devotion came
Rotting your brain
Chain, chain, join the endless chain
Taken by his glamour
Fame, fame, infection is the game
Stinking drunk with power
We see
Time for lust, time for lie
Time to kiss your life goodbye
Send me money, send me green, heaven you will meet
Make a contribution and you'll get the better seat
Bow to Leper Messiah
Witchery, weakening
Sees the sheep are gathering
Set the trap, hypnotize
Now you follow
Time for lust, time for lie
Time to kiss your life goodbye
Send me money, send me green, heaven you will meet
Make a contribution and you'll get the better seat
Lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie

I was driving home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield
Listening to gospel music on the colored radio station
And the preacher said, you know you always have the Lord by your side
And I was so pleased to be informed of this that I ran
Twenty red lights in his honor
Thank you Jesus, thank you Lord
I had an arrangement to meet a girl, and I was kind of late
And I thought by the time I got there she'd be off
She'd be off with the nearest truck driver she could find
Much to my surprise, there she was sittin' in the corner
A little bleary, worse for wear and tear
Was a girl with far away eyes
So if you're down on your luck
And you can't harmonize
Find a girl with far away eyes
And if you're downright disgusted
And life ain't worth a dime
Get a girl with far away eyes
Well the preacher kept right on saying that all I had to do was send
Ten dollars to the church of the Sacred Bleeding Heart Of Jesus
Located somewhere in Los Angeles, California
And next week they'd say my prayer on the radio
And all my dreams would come true
So I did, the next week, I got a prayer with a girl
Well, you know what kind of eyes she got, well I'll tell ya
So if you're down on your luck
I know you all sympathize
Find a girl with far away eyes
And if you're downright disgusted
And life ain't worth a dime
Get a girl with far away eyes
So if you're down on your luck
I know you all sympathize
Get a girl with far away eyes

I never say fuck reigion. I lament the negative outcome of adhering to its numerous incantations. I lament the rejection of rationality, that is parked when people believe in a book so littered by horror and fantasy, not to mention, clear mistakes about how the universe began. There are still so many things we do not undersrand about this and indeed, may never solve, but to put god in that gap isn't intelligent. It denudes intelligence. I can and do get all misty eyed at the majesty of the universe, of the abundance and beauty of life. At the good side of people and humanity. Our compassion and solidarity. The difference is I don't give the credit to any man made god.

I remember the day when my second son was in hospital for a hernia fixing op as a baby. When he was ready to come home, we went to get him and he had been put onto a ward that had little kids with cancer. I saw them and the anguish etched on the faces of their parents. I vowed that even if someone conclusively proved god existed, I would never worship such an absolute **** who would visit such agony on innocent children and their parents.

And if youre reading this Jesus, you are a ****.
