Re: Dunne City Legend or Not?

The word Legend is bandied about too much these days.

Only players who actually achieve something should be labelled a legend. I have little doubt that in 10 years time we will have some legends but Richard Dunne? No! Never in a million years!

Re: Dunne City Legend or Not?

NOOOOOOOO hes no different than a lot of players whos left us in the past other than that he served more time at the club thats all.......

Re: Dunne City Legend or Not?

Like him or not, how many of our recognised 'legends' were POY 4 times? Legend for me.

Unlike your Tevez post, Damocles, this time I don't agree.

Dunne's time at City had come to a close. He has lost his edge and makes too many errors.

We have signed players better than him. We need to have young players on the fringes, versatile players like Onuoha and Kompany.

I'm glad he was sold.

I agree up to the final sentence. I'm not GLAD he was sold, but realistically, he is short of what we require if we're going to challenge at the top. He's very much a Premier League player, but so is Dean Whitehead, but you didn't see the big 4 battling for his signature did you? I would have been happy if he'd stayed and was perhaps a squad player, but there are better players in front of him now. At his age he's no good warming the bench, he needs to play, and for the ROI's sake too, he needs to be match fit and playing regularly. It will be strange to see him playing for Villa, but nothing is forever and there would eventually have been a parting of the ways one way or another. So to get £6m makes perfect sense. We are a rich club, but we're not a charity (Although I accept that CITC is) and if it's £6m for Dunnie rather than nothing next year, then we'll take the £6m all day long.
