Riyad Mahrez - 2018/2019 performances

He slowed things down at the wrong times, he chose the wrong passing options on the ball, he seems to be in positions his teammates don't expect him to be in, he lost the ball at least half a dozen times.

He won't start the cup final, and he's still miles away from threatening a starting position. Hopefully that'll happen over the summer, because we really could do with another POTY calibre player, but it's hard to see.

He made their CB eat the dust. He scored a goal with his right foot (he seems to be improving his right foot game). He gave a great pass to Aguero to boost his goal tally. He made the central midfielders get the ball in open positions. His corner assist (which he won) and Laporte header made me breath again. Oh and we all know he has to improve his 1v1 game. It's a day of joy, not a day of spewing out continuous vitriol vs Mahrez (aren't 300 pages enough?).

You seem to not understand what vitriol is.

Slowed thing down at the wrong times how? Were those times counter attacks or what makes them the wrong times? Bear in mind that Brighton defended so deep sometimes with 11 men. Most of our players were just passing to themselves in those times whilst looking for openings. He did not loose the ball as much as you make out. In fact I think this is one reason why he gets starts ahead of Sane (which I personally do not like). He doesn't loose the all perhaps because he doesn't try to take too much risks. I know he was a bit selfish in a couple of situations but that's about it really.

Hard to see him do well with us? Bernado says hi!

As I mentioned earlier I cant think of two players that performed better than him today. Just imagine if he steps it up one more gear.

The Bernardo comparison is a fucking joke.

I tell you what, as everyone is too blinded by a goal to measure up his performance, lets see who's right in October.

Will he be delivering on being our record signing and a key part in the side starting most games, or will he still be sitting on the bench for weeks on end, and starting once every 2 months in the league.

If you lot turn out to be correct, I'll be the first to admit fault, but based on today's performance I don't see him any closer than he was 9 months ago.

I'd like to see him tested in a more central position. I think he is a bigger goal threat and his creativity will shine more. Maybe he can play in David's position more often. Bernardos work rate on the wings is very good and I think pep likes that.

There was a spell where he was playing with confidence and you could really see that there was a superstar in there.
