So is Mahrez the new booboy then?
Gundogan will be relieved.
To be fair, with the exception of maybe De Bruyne, every player has at some point in their City tenure been overly and unfairly criticised. Or at the very least doubted. Often on the back of only one or two under par performances. Check out the Laporte or Fernandinho threads after the first Lyon game and you'll see nobody is immune.
Point being, after anything less than perfect result and performance some people are always going to be unhappy, and unfortunately players like Mahrez who've had less time or opportunity to win favour tend to be easier picks. Especially if they've had a below par game.
I get where you're coming from, it seems unfair to discount all the good he's done so far and the fact he's integrating into a new team, playing in a rather unfamilar role too and just say he's not good enough and won't make it blah blah blah. But take it from me, someone who's spent a lot of time defending other overly criticised players like Gundogan, Mendy, Jesus, Otamendi etc (and currently debating over whether to defend Walker) that Mahrez has yet to cross into boo-boy status. And even if he had, calling other posters out over it is only going to make them double down. You don't even need me to tell you that you're a forum veteran.
I agree with your sentiment, but I think you'd be better off telling everyone why he's good and deserves our patience and hope that they can see your point of view. Because I know you can, you're a decent poster after all :).
