He won't be the squad for Sunday according to the manager. If that's not hanging a player out to dry I don't know what is...
Or he might say that to the media, then pull him to one side behind closed doors and tell him to get a grip of himself and he'll be on the bench against Chelsea to prove a point?

For what it's worth, i don't think he meant it last night. He challanged for the ball, a bit over enthusiastically, but then bends his leg back in to not make contact with his chest but unfortunately comes down on his thigh

Not heard that. Could be a language thing. He certainly answered differently at the press conference.

I hope so...that's the one thing which has crossed my mind....were his words lost in translation and/or is that a bit of mind games on Roberto's part. It's hard to know but it's frustrating as fuck that every time there's a poor results, Mancini is having a go at players specifically. I'll stand by what I said in my OP...it's not good, it doesn't motivate players, and ultimately its a weakness in the manager...

Have you seen the Mario backlash on here? If he'd've said 'it's just part of Mario's game', then many supporters would have flipped the shits, Billy.

He was understandably furious, but I don't agree that MB should be automatically dropped for Chelsea. He could do with learning a little humility, though, and public criticism might aid this.

We don't have any idea of the relationship that exists between Mario & Mancini, so this speculation is a wee bit redundant. If MB plays awfully in the next few games, that's the time to bump your thread again.

Could be I suppose. He said AJ wouldn't be fit for Chelsea and he got 15 minutes last night.

It's not exactly heavy criticism, and I can't think of any players that look particularly demotivated. Dzeko works hard when given a chance, I'd say he's responded quite well to the perceived slight.

You're not the only one with concerns about Mancini's man-management "skills" in publicly criticising his own players.

I started a thread on it this morning, but it's been submerged into the Balotelli thread unfortunately.

Mancini has the look of a man ready for packing it in...

Fair comments Billy, But Mancini did say he didnt "Think" Balo would be in the squad and also that he hadnt seen the incident so maybe he may change his mind..although the foul was silly its not as bad as some would say..
He may change his mind, time will tell.

In general managers shouldnt criticise their players and they dont. But this is exception. mancini has defended him alot and he couldnt defend him once again as that was undefendable. And he would have got alot more criticism if he tried to defend Mario after that, sometimes you just have to be honest and say he let himself and the team down and he have to learn to control his emotions in the future. I thought Mancini handled is as good as one could

Just to be clear what sticks in my throat today ( and did last night too ) is the "he won't be in the squad Sunday" comment. If it turns out he isn't then furious won't even cut it for me. The absolute zenith of pure unadulterated stupidity. I hate to say it, but we shipped out two 'problem' players, and we're now going to drop the 'problem' player Mancini brought in to replace one of those 'problem' players. It's a fucking joke and a shambles if that's what happens.

Having said all that, if he starts Sunday, or is on the bench, then I'll happily retract the above and apologize for it...
