To be fair, whether he comes or not you can only go on what info you've been given at that time, things can change very quickly as we've found in the past.

I agree totally, the info I get given "at that time" from here changes hour upon hour. Exasperating for us not in the know. Must be infuriating for those as yourself who are actually In The Know. How do you cope ?

I would hardly say i'm "In The Know"

I'm fortunate that i do come across some info from time to time and relay what i can, sometimes it's good info, sometimes it's not.

It's separating the wheat from the chaff that's the problem

You was obviously so wrapped up with "trying" to be clever that you missed it.

This might make it bit more clearer.

Wenger preparing for life without star man with unfulfilled Van Persie set to jet off to Man City

A few days after France were knocked out of Euro 2004, Arsenal hired a private plane for Patrick Vieira and waited for him at their pre-season training camp in Austria.
When the Learjet landed on the tarmac in Graz, no-one was quite sure whether the Arsenal captain would emerge when the hatch was finally opened.
Eventually, after much anticipation, Vieira made his way down the steps and in to a limousine that made the 60km journey out of town for a meeting with Arsene Wenger in Bad Waltersdorf.
Touching down: Patrick Vieira lands in Austria for showdown talks
At the time Vieira was calling the shots, captain of Arsenal’s Invincibles and being courted for a third successive summer by Real Madrid.
He wasn’t quite so sure of his international career after he was left on the bench for France’s quarter-final defeat against Greece at Euro 2004, but he remained one of the world’s best midfielders.
At Arsenal he was the main man, the driving force of a team that was competing at top of the Premier League with Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
After settling in to the team hotel in Austria and re-acquainting himself with Arsenal’s players, he spent hours with Wenger as they discussed the strategy for the following season.
By then Vieira had won three Premier League titles at the Emirates, but they were falling short every year in the Champions League.

Chelsea's golden oldie deserves better than this 01/05/12 VIEW FULL ARCHIVE Despite the team – and talent – they couldn’t crack it with a side that boasted Sol Campbell, Kolo Toure, Ashley Cole, Robert Pires, Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Vieira.
And in spite of their marvellous unbeaten run in the Premier League, they were knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals at Highbury when Wayne Bridge scored Chelsea’s late winner.
Ultimately Vieira chose to stay, committing himself to Arsenal for one more year before eventually moved to Juventus for £20m in the summer of 2005.
In just a few days’ time, Arsenal will make similar arrangements for Robin Van Persie to join Wenger on the club’s gruelling pre-season tour of Asia.
After years of stubborn resistance to long-distance travel before the start of the season, Wenger has been forced to accept the commercial advantages of playing in Malaysia, China and Hong Kong.
It means there will be plenty of opportunity for talk time between the captain and a manager who is already preparing for life beyond Van Persie.
Destination unknown: Robin van Persie's future is up in the air
No-one at Arsenal is convinced that the Holland striker, who is taking a break after the Euros before meeting Wenger, intends to stay at the Emirates.
Manchester City are convinced that he will sign for the Barclays Premier League champions, and are prepared to pay him a superstar’s salary while offering the potential of silverware.
They will be difficult to budge from the top of the Premier League and with one or two additions, including Van Persie, they can also make an impact in Europe.
Van Persie was an unused substitute when Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by Barcelona in the Champions League final in May 2006.
That was the end of the cycle for a great Arsenal team, broken up too quickly by Wenger as they fell away in Europe and in the Premier League.
Pires left after the final and Henry, Cole, Fredrik Ljungberg and Alexander Hleb were not far behind.
Despite Van Persie’s top class goalscoring ratio (96 in 149 starts in the Premier League and 20 in 39 in the Champions League), he is unfulfilled.
The 2005 FA Cup medal is the only meaningful trophy he has won at Arsenal, a depressing statistic that shows little sign of changing in the current climate.
Trophy drought: Arsenal's FA Cup victory in 2005 is the only silverware of Van Persie's Gunners career
There are some divisions forming at Arsenal over the recruitment of players and Wenger is increasingly ignoring the advice of his scouting department to take them.
Olivier Giroud has long been on Arsenal’s radar, but the France striker is not even a regular in Laurent Blanc’s international team.
He played just 32 minutes during the Euros, largely ignored by Blanc as he steered his way out of the group before they were soundly beaten by Spain in the semi-final.
Giroud’s eye-catching goals for Montpellier in their title-winning season brought him to the attention of European football’s top clubs and there will be a demand for him to make an instant impression at the Emirates.
Lukas Podolski will be under similar pressure, arriving from Cologne after the Euros with the brief to solve Arsenal’s left-sided problem.
Wenger has never lacked self-belief in the transfer market, promising Vieira that the changes would improve the team after winning the title in 2004.
He brought in Manuel Almunia, Mathieu Flamini in the summer, along with Emmanuel Eboue in January 2005 as he prepared for the next phase of Arsenal’s development.
New faces: Olivier Giroud is Arsenal's second signing of the close season
This time there is a sense of urgency about Wenger’s signings, taking drastic action to improve the team before they begin another Premier League campaign.
The captain is the biggest issue, with Wenger preparing to talk with Van Persie during their long-distance travelling between pre-season friendlies.
It’s not ideal, but City are convinced it’s only a matter of time before he takes off.

I haven't got the hang of this cutting and pasting lark. If it doesn't make sense just edit it to make it clearer.

I'll gladly admit it if I'm wrong, but I really don't think RVP would leave us for another club in the same league. And I really don't think Wenger would strengthen a rival with one of his best ever strikers.

It just doesn't make sense. Juventus, Barca, even Madrid make more sense. Maybe I just don't want another public showing of "no ambition" from AFC

I hope your correct mate, not that he is a bad player but all the pro's vs con's don't balance so well for me.
The main issue imo is the numbers being banded about. If they ended up true i would be a bit pissed at our suit's as i feel we could get someone younger for the same figures.

I think his style would see him skin many a defender in the Italian leagues.
