Last season RVP was without doubt the best player i saw at the Etihad.

While I agree RvP is a top player, I'd say Cavani was much more impressive than him both at the Etihad and when we played them away. He scored 3 goals in 2 games against us whereas RvP scored 0 goals in 2 games against us. Kompany and Lescott seemed completely helpless against Cavani.

His movement and ability to stretch a defence to create space for others is second only to Aguero.

When i imagine RVP alongside Aguero with Silva and Nasri behind them my mouth starts to water, here's hoping!

I scratch my head when i see people posting they don't want him?

92 fucking chances he created last season imagine Aguero having that sort of supply.

Cavani stepped up v bayern too.

He scored the most open play goals in Italy. A master at set pieces to compliment our already great record and is a phenom anyway.

I'd let Dzeko and Tevez go in a heart beat for him and Cavani.

People say we already have sound strikers, I agree but where were they when we had that bad run and couldn't score against Sunderlan, Everton, Arsenal and Swansea?

Cavani and Lavezzi carried Napoli. Cavani is a must imo, if he is possible we should make sure he goes nowhere else.

On a side note, here's something I saw pop up on facebook I found quite funny

Will Cavani fit our system?

He scores a bucket load in a counter attacking team but we are a team that pass and probe to break teams down. Is he another Dzeko type player or a RVP type player that will assist as well as score? RVP with 37 goals and 92 chances created would suit us perfectly.

Manchester City refuse to break wage structure for Van Persie
The Premier League champions are unwilling to make the wantaway striker the highest earner at Etihad Stadium due to his previous injury struggles whilst at the Gunners

Manchester City will refuse to break the bank in order to bring wantaway Arsenal striker Robin van Persie to Eastlands this summer.

The Gunners skipper has revealed he will not sign an extension to his current deal, which expires next summer with the north London club, in a strongly worded statement on his personal website.

It had been widely reported that Van Persie, who turns 29 next month, had already agreed terms, in principle, on a £225k-a-week contract with City that would see him follow the path trodden by both Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy, who moved from Arsenal to the blue half of Manchester this time last year.

Goal.com understands, however, that the Premier League champions are unwilling to go above their basic ceiling of £198k-a-week, earned by the likes of Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero, for a player with a history of serious knee and ankle injuries.

With Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulations coming into play from the start of next season, City are keen to be seen to adhering to the European governing body’s new legislation which will force clubs to break even – within a £4.2m leeway – over a rolling two-year monitoring period.

City’s refusal to make Van Persie their top earner outright, will test the Dutchman’s pronouncement that money was not the main factor behind his decision to quit Emirates Stadium, following seven years without a trophy.

Arsenal are determined to keep hold of last season’s Premier League top goalscorer at all costs, but while City remain keen to do a deal they will only do so if they deem it to make financial sense. Already they have been dissuaded from following up on their interest in Edinson Cavani by Napoli’s £40m valuation of the Uruguay international striker.

Moreover, City’s hierarchy are currently more preoccupied with ironing out the futures of current members of their playing staff including David Silva and manager Robert Mancini, believing they will still be able to prise Van Persie away from Arsenal later in the summer.

I've never had the pleasure of seeing Cavani play live so i can't really pass judement on his overall play and that's how i like to assess players.

Napoli style of play is counter attacking where Arsenal play in front of you on the edge of the box so hard to compare players playing differant styles.

Arsenal's style of play is closer to the way we play so i can see the RVP fit, so to speak.

Don't get me wrong, i wouldn't turn my nose up at Cavani but i can only judge what i've seen live and i like what i've seen.

Goal?!? Lol! How many times we heard its not the money but the trophies he wants! He already earns more money than the average person could dream off! £130,000-140,000 I would imagine. Just the usual media bullshit regarding wages and us.
