This is going the same way as Nasri last year and he lost that argument. RVP would guarantee Arsenal CL therefore even by not taking up the 20m next season they will have CL footie and the income that goes with it. If he is sold they may not get CL but will benefit from the 20m from his transfer.

If Arsenal keep RVP against his wish to leave you could end up with a very unhappy player who might not hit the heights he did last season, yes he could play his contract out "professionally" but would the fans respect him for that.

As posters have said all the power is with the player these days and no matter what Wenger tries to do he will find himself on the horns of a dilema, does he cash in and take the money or make him stay (player maybe unhappy) and have the player signing in January with the club of his choice under Webster ruling.

Personally I will be delighted to see the class that is RVP come to City. But, I can clearly see the other side of the argument that may see The Gooners hang onto their man. Just suppose he scores 37 goals next term for Arsenal as he did last season, stays free of injury, and plays with a totally professional attitude, and gets them into the champions league? Surely ALL that must be worth MORE than the £20m they would get now wouldn't it? The £20m is chicken feed when it comes to going out and looking for a replacement player of the class of Kun Aguero for example, and they'd probably squander it on crap anyway. Makes sense to keep him doesn't it??
