Hope we hear some news this week.
odds-on it will drag on all Summer and kick off again in the Autumn as the next window approaches. Clubs put off by a big fee and wages given his age, and he is not going to sign a new contract when he can walk in the summer.

I think AC Milan may make a couple of big buys, and chelsea may buy a striker, but the odds are that the saga is only just beginning.

hasnt he just come and and said " he wants to joing the rags" .. source sky news this morning... surely we cant buy him after that if its true

This pursuit of Van Persie seems odd to me. I know people keep saying that the gaffer really wants him, but hasn't it been Brian Marwood who's pushed for the Arsenal players we've signed previously? I believe the gaffer when he says he's got four top strikers and he's happy with them.

If we were to sign him and subsequently let go of either Dzeko or Tevez I personally think that would be bad business on our part. Everything about this Van Persie transfer screams rip off from the fee Arsenal want to the wages he will want.

Remember not to believe the media or fans of any other team mate.

Edin will go mate, once Rvp joins edin will leave with our blessing. As has been mentioned rvp wants trophies! He already earns a huge amount in real life terms and can afford anything he wants! He wants honours and we can give him that chance.

You say not to believe other people, then you make a speculative comment!
I mentioned weeks ago that I'd heard that rvp wanted us and talks between Rvp agents and ourselves had taken place. Even his agent admitted that he'd been to the etihad for a meeting with us! My uncle does insurance work for a couple of tha arsenal board members and when they go out drinking together loose tongues start talking and obviously being a city fan he asks about stuff and let's me know. Throughout the whole nasri transfer I said it would happen and it got held back purely because of wenger. Do u remember the pics that he was putting up on his twitter? Meeting paddy and constantly talking to nasri etc? And his tweets normally have deeeecent in them now?! Coincidence??

What always baffles me about the media is that player acquisition is Marwood's responsibility yet player sales is bizarrely Mancini's job?

I agree with this. Whilst the majority seem to be desperate for RVP to join us I have major doubts as to whether this really would be a good bit of business by City. The fee is wrong, the wages astronomical and quite frankly I'd be happy to stick with the strikers we have. We need to concentrate on other areas and it looks like our attention is being unnecessarily wasted on a guy who sounds like he'd rather go to ManUre anyway.....

Two problems:

1) No great footballing reason to swap RVP for Dzeko or Tevez or even Mario
2) It would be very costly
3) Even if we got over 1 and 2 we'd then have to find a buyer for the displaced player and that wouldn't be easy. Remember the saga with Tevez in the last transfer window when we coudn't find a buyer even when he was at logger-heads with City

Because he is better.
