And then his next one is,apparently City NOT prepared to make Rvp their highest paid player!

Ok not seen that one I'll take your word for it.. That was a quick turn around by Rodders ;)

I'm sorry but why don't we just put a limit on the salaries. Let's say Tevez, Toure they earn 200k a week and cannot earn more.

That way we can say to RVP you will be paid equal to what the other players and no more.

Also, what the fuck is Marwood doing?

My sources tell me that IF Manchester city pay his wage demands he is theres, seems to say they aren't at the moment and there may be a problem.

just that fact that he's been linked again with us in the last 24 hours, no smoke without fire in relation to this transfer - he's exactly what we need, and we know mancini really likes him

United won't make him their top wage earner either. And let's not entertain the idea that he would go there for less money, this isn't 2008.
Doesn't Rooney have it in his contract that he will always be their top earner, so it would be impossible for RVP to be, even then, if they paid him what he wants they would then probably have to pay Rooney more.

No chance.

I just have a feeling that Van Persie is going to do a u-turn and stay with Arsenal for another year.

At the end of the day he said he was never leaving Arsenal, he just said he was not going to renew his contract. No club is going to pay his wage demands and with Arsenal reported to be offering him around 130k a week, he aint' going to get much better IMO - maybe 150k.

If Arsenal sign Cazorla and Sahin on loan and keep RVP then they have a chance of winning the league IMO! Last seasons poor start was blatently a rebellion for the sales of Fabregas and Nasri!

There's no chance arsenal will let him run his contract down.

I think this sooo what that suggests is the each party is waiting for the other to blink first. Arsenal are waiting for us to show our hand ( or utd or juve or ??) we are waiting because we believe he wants to come, and arse have planned for life without him and wont want to let him go for nowt next year.

Things are starting to move with Van Persie - finally.

We should hear something more concrete this week.

Are you still saying DeRossi is a no go as we seem to have been linked again quite heavily ?

Hes got as much an idea as anybody. KFA club.

Manchester City transfer chief Brian Marwood is set to jeopardise the club’s bid to sign Robin van Persie by refusing to make him their highest-paid player.

And that will delight rivals United, who believe they can win the race for Van Persie if City do not blow the bank.

Marwood is already at odds with City boss Roberto Mancini over Van Persie, with the Italian desperate to land the Dutchman.

City had a £15m bid for Van Persie rejected and Mancini has been told he must sell some of his flops to clear the way for a new offer closer to Arsenal’s £20m asking price.

Arsene Wenger returns from Arsenal’s pre-season tour to Asia tomorrow and will hold another round of talks with Van Persie.

But even if Van Persie cannot be convinced to change his mind and City do agree a fee with the Gunners, Mancini can no longer count on the club offering the player vast sums of money to snub United and Juventus.

Mancini had assumed City would offer Van Persie a salary close to the £225,000-a-week that highest-paid player Yaya Toure earns, but Marwood is set to dash that hope.

City already have big problems trying to sell Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz due to their huge wage packets.

And Marwood believes it would be a significant and unnecessary risk to pay Van Persie, who turns 29 next month and has a poor injury record, any more than £150,000 a week.

Van Persie is already understood to favour a move to United or Juve and Marwood’s wage cap will only make it more difficult for City to convince the Dutchman to change his mind.

Arsenal were ready to offer Van Persie £130,000-a-week and a £5m signing-on fee before he said he would not sign a new contract.

United pay Wayne Rooney £200,000 a week and could match City’s reduced salary offer.

We can file this under bullshit on the simple basis that they have claim Toure is the current highest earner. They KFA.

bit of a bullshit article. i thought that the only thing we needed to do was agree to the transfer fee and that the wages of RVP were agreed to a long time ago, something along the lines of 120k?
