If Kompany had a long term injury, Micah would be moved to CB and Zaba right back. So no we wouldn't struggle for the top 4. Ridiculous thing to say.

Micah is not a centre back. Dont get me wrong as an emergency or when there are injuries then he can do a job there but he would be badly exposed against the better strikers in that position over a long term basis.

Youve got your opinion and thats fine, but look back at the games when Kompany was injured last season, look what an absolute mess we were. Look how shit forwards were running riot creating chances against us.

A lot of the time our forwards made up for it and got us out of the shit, i,e tottenham at home, but over the course of the season missing Vinnie, this team would finish way off the title pace put it that way.
I tend to disagree...

Micah is, indeed, not a centre back but is much more capable of playing that position than you seem to make out as he showed against Chelsea at home last season as well as for team GB. Especially if part of a back three which Mancini seems to be more than just contemplating in this preseason (and he also experimented with this at the end of matches and vs Liverpool in the League Cup semi).

Also, a reason we where so poor defensively in that spell was because both Kolo and Yaya where at the African Cup of Nations, along Zabaleta being injured/not fully fit, forcing Micah to play right back and Savic to play at centre back rather than third choice Kolo or Micah. Yaya being out forced NDJ and Barry to try and pose more of a threat in an attacking sense leaving the defence less protected, further highlighting Savic's weaknesses.

This compared to United, who have similar quality backups in that position started poorly defensively but swept teams aside because of their attacking form, this bad-ish defensive form lasted around two months or so (being highlighted tremendously when city came to the swamp) whereas ours lasted around 1 month (until Vinnie came back). Had he been out for the same length of time as Vidic Micah and Joleon or Kolo and Joleon would have firstly been better than the defence with Savic and secondly they would have worked up a partnership by this point making us far, far less than easy to break down.

In proposition of where we might have finished, I believe a defence of Zab-Micah-JLo-Clichy with a worked-up understanding between Micah and Joleon is superior to that of Arsenal last season or currently (Djourou-Koscielny-Vermaelen-Gibbs // Sagna-Koscienly-Vermaelen-Santos), Spurs' team then (Walker-King-Kaboul-BAE), and Newcastle's at that point (Simpson-Coloccini-Perch-Santon). This added to the fact we clearly have a better attack than anyone else in the league means we would have been up there in the top three although probably not winning it in the end. So, I agree with Ovo, I also don't think that we would struggle to make top four.

Just my opinion of course.

Can everyone just chill the fook out..F.F.Sake.

It has been said before and I will reiterate this. RVP in my opinion will improve the team however if he goes to rag land then so be it. I am quite sure that our owner/chairman/Mancini have identified the areas that require strengthening so playing football manager on here really is quite silly.Just sit back and enjoy the ride

Stop falling out and debate by all means but our club will not stand still. Anyone would have thought in the space of 10 weeks that the players who won,yes won us the league have all of a sudden become lesser players overnight.

Yes the rags have signed players.Even if they sign Moura there is no guarantee he will shine.
Roll on next Sunday so we can get back to what matters.

bang on with that!

Well thats it. Lock the thread. The media say that RVP will go to United, after Bobbie said he doubted we could sign the player.

We know they speak the truth.

They won the league last season, because Bobbie said it was difficult for us.

They signed Samir Nasri, because the player favoured a move there.

Bob Cass in fact yesterday on his twitter feed said Maura (sp) was nailed on to United, and would be having his medical soon.

It must be correct. Musn't it?

I've read this morning that PSG are confident of signing the same player. Do they not read twitter? He is going to United!

FACT its all bluster the rags will not sanction a £30m fee, even by selling off parts of their club.

FACT. RVP is an Arsenal player. Lets see where he goes.

As for the Maura (sp), we all know fergie couldnt spot a decent brazillian in a beauty parlour!

We are the champions :)

Mind games starting early.
I agree, I think Bobby is trying to convince Arsenal we have reached our limit. They will only sell him when they think they can get the maximum possible fee. Until we seem prepared to walk away Arsenal will keep asking for more.

I believe Mancini's words when it comes to transfers. As far as i remember, it has never happened that he said something and the opposite happened. So RVP is not coming and Dzeko is staying

I am a massive RVP fan, but much less convinced that he is currently what we need right now. I am much more consumed by the interest in Sinclair and Agger as I feel they are exactly what we should be looking for.
However I have a business associate who apears to be relatively in the know at Arsenal (I know for a fact that he is a close friend of Mers and several other ex Gooners of that era, I have met several of them and even sat in a private box at theirs last year with a half-doz or so of them along with Lakey and Whitey), he also put me onto Samir last year several weeks before anything reared in the papers. His take on what is currently going on is that there is a game of brinksmanship between 4 clubs that will begin to unravel early this week with several parties issuing ultimatums to the others. He says that there is a broad feeling within the Arse that RVP will end up coming to City as the other 2 clubs cannot raise the funds to satisfy both RVP's demands and their valuation nor can they get anywhere near enough to be able to propose anything like an acceptable compromise. Although the Arse do still hang onnthe outside chance that they can get him to do a U-turn and sign at least a 2 year extension to his current contract they are now resolved to use the interest of the other 2 clubs to manipulate as much as they can out of us. According to my friend he understands that Marwood has intimated that if there is no positive movement before Tuesday then City will move onto alternate targets.

The RVP transfer is nothing to do with his desire to join us but has everything to do with potentially having too many top class strikers.

Balo is going nowhere. Aguero is going nowhere. Tevez is going nowhere so that leaves Džeko. If Big D doesn't attract the right fee - he is also going nowhere. This simply leaves no room whatsoever for RVP.

Make of that what you will. Theres a few ? marks around that article and still does not say that we are completely out of the race? Does it?

Says on the Gossip pages that Ferguson missed the game yesterday tying up the RVP deal.
I also read he missed the game to tie up the Moura deal. It's all bollocks.

Would have loved him here but doesn't look like it will happen, dzeko needs to step t up though he was shocking last season bar the odd game.
That's so far off the mark I laughed. He had the odd poor game around January/February, like Everton away for example. Other than that he had a good season. Some of his goals and performances were spectacular. When Carlos came back Edin was mainly a sub, doesn't mean he was shocking, Carlos is just a better player.

I truly believe signing van Persie would have been detrimental to our forward line. I don't like him, he's injury prone, he's too old for our project, he's a dick head...he is just not a City player. If he goes to United I think it will be a better move for him and a good signing for then as he's what they are lacking up front. Yes, it'll make them stronger, but so what? BRING IT ON!

We've needed centre half cover and a winger since January...City; please concentrate on these areas and not on the one of two areas of the team (as well as at full back) we are strong as fuck!

With Chelsea strengthing there squad and now Arsenal with getting in reinforcements those clubs will be closer to us this year making winning the league harder than last year
If we lost Kompany , Yaya ,Silva or Sergio to injury for a few months we would
Be in the shit
We do need to add some players and I have no doubt that the club will bring in the players that we need

Chelsea strengthening squad?????????? Drogba gone, Kalou gone , Lampard a year older. Signings all unknown and unproven in Premier League. Not sure they have strengthened. Aresenal deteriorate year in year out.

You've got that completely the wrong way round!
Dzeko was very good last season apart from the odd shocking game!

For what its worth, I think Van Persie would be a great addition to the squad, but if we go into the new season with Aguero, Tevez, Balotelli and Dzeko, then by my reckoning we still have the best pool of strikers in the league by a country mile!

I have never been convinced that a 29 year old with a questionable injury record deserved a place at City IF the four we have already were staying. I also point out that our number 1 target last year was sanchez, who chose to go to Barca - then we bought Aguero. If I remember correctly, he did rather well for us last season, didn't he?
