Re: I dont want Robin Van Persie.

A fantastic player, but too long a history of injury and at 29 no re sale value. I would keep clear.

I don't believe he would cost 30m,more around the 15m mark given his contract and probable desire to leave.
However, the transfer would be a little shortsighted for many of the points you make but would he improve us over the next couple of seasons? yes, without doubt IMO,an improvement on both Dzeko and Mario.

I would however sooner have a younger, maybe hungrier, alternative,Falcao or Cavani would my preferences, subsequently on wages alone we would have much more room for further manoevure.

You really think he would cost less than Nasri, who was in the same situation? No chance. Like some others mentioned, Wenger would rather keep hold of him than lose him for a meager fee. 30m will be the price. And for that, I say no thanks.

I think Arsene will rather run his contract down than sell him. I am absolutely certain he is going nowhere. We shouldn't want him, and if we did, we probably would not get him. Personally if I was Arsenal, I'd put his price at 30 million. If you want a histrically injury prone 29 yearold striker with half a year left on his contract for 30 million, come and get him.

Arsenal is looking to bolster its ranks this summer. They are almost set with the kid from Cologne and are looking at adding Belhanda and Vertonghen to their ranks. They are quite close to challenging and I see no reason why they'd let their best go for any less than an exhorbitant amount.

I wouldn't.

Strange use of the phrase kid if you mean Podolski, will be 27 by the time the season starts

So City, United and Chelsea won't improve in the summer?
I don't see the relevance of that question. This is about why Arsenal will not sell RVP. Thus whether City, United or Chelsea will improve is irrelevant. Arsenal has some weaknesses they are already trying to address and they believe if they do, they will compete for the league. Selling RVP totally destroys the chance of improving those weaknesses.

Whether other teams improve is irrelevant to that thinking.

Yes Arsenal will improve but so will City the rags and Chelsea, even Newcastle and Liverpool will be FAR stronger.

Re: I dont want Robin Van Persie.

No.

Points made well.

Wonderful striker, and he's been great for Arsenal and consistent in the league (when not injured) but I'm more interested in developing Width in our team, benefitting Dzeko... and bringing in Cavani (who I'm very impressed by)

I still don't see the relevance. That statement buttresses why they wouldn't sell. Are you saying knowledge of others also improving will make them more likely to sell? That simply makes no sense to me. :?

Obviously theres been ALOT of talking about RVP to city and Arsenal thinking of cashing in.
Personally i dont want him at city, reasons being:

• He'll be 29 by the start of next season so he can't progress that much more.

• He will have little to no resell value, where as if we went for someone like Cavani not only will he get better but if we have to sell or for whatever reason we could still command a decent fee.

• For me this season has been RVP prime season, he will not have another season in which he will be so prolific.

• Hes not going to be cheap either - commanding a fee of around £30Million.

• Where as if we were to increase that £30M to £40M and get Bale from spurs it would not only benefit the team as a whole but it could kick start Dzeko and hopefully havve him playing alot better than he currently is.

• on top of that he is also injury prone, and that is another reason he wont have another season as good as he is having at the moment.

Anybody else feel the same?

Mods you can merge this if you want....

Progress? Hes already mint

Re: I dont want Robin Van Persie.

Interesting developments... (not my info, so if any us wrong don't shoot me!)

RVP just posted this on Twitter: "Dinner with great company! #Sushi" - with an accompanying picture.

Guy on the left is of RVPs agents apparently. Who's the guy in the middle?

At the Emirates... (City game)

Didn't realise he was that old.

Fuck him.

Age = What ???
So lets have a debate on what ageism has to do with ability.

How many games did he miss for Arsenal last season based on his injuries ???

A good amount, more than 10 I think. The season before wasn't he out for almost the entire campaign with injuries? He's been lucky this season, no doubt. Not the reason I don't want him though.

Re: I dont want Robin Van Persie.

An Arsenal supporter with a box at the Emirates according to someone on Twitter.
