Robinho.

I have to say I did not know too much about Robbie before we signed him, I had heard of him of course but I had not seen him in action that often. I got caught up in the euphoria of breaking the transfer record and signing this 'World Class' Brazilian.

Unfortunately I think this euphoria has handed him more chances than his performances have deserved. He is unplayable on his day but when his day is only a handful of times a season it isnt enough! No matter if you want him to stay or go everyone must surely agree that he hasnt even come close to justifying his price tag.

I am wondering whether we are going to see a pattern with Robbie, he by all accounts looked the business at Real and then fell out of favour, he looked good at City early last season and then went off the boil. Where next? He talks about being the best player in the World etc etc but I am starting to think he is a bit of a con artist. I am really starting to believe that he just isnt 'that' good! This label he has of being 'World Class' had come from somewhere but I am thinking it is a myth.

He may have been signed as a statement of intent, giving us worldwide press coverage and a new image, but now he's a symbol of what's wrong with our team- overpaid and under-performing.

As much as I would like him to regain his form and start scoring goals for us again, he seems to be going from bad to worse.

The worst part of all is his work-rate. If he was working his socks off then you could have some sympathy for him, but the fact he looks disinterested is infuriating.

Robinho is all about one thing...himself. We (and by that I mean the management, the owners and the fans) have only ourselves to blame. When we got Robinho we treated him differently to any other player. He was worshiped by us, and we all behaved like he had done us a favour by agreeing to play for us and so this is how he acts...like he is bigger than the club and he is doing us a favour. He is allowed to go back to Brazil without permission, only half wear the club suit, turn up late (or not at all) for city in the community events, play when he feels like it...the list goes on. Until we start treating him like every other player he will believe that he is ultra special and behave like a spoilt brat. What must the other players think..they probably like the cheeky chappy but I doubt they respect him.

Robinho has served his purpose from a marketing point of view and now it's time to get tough. He isn't half the player Bellamy or Tevez is and it's time everyone understands that and stops waiting for this wonder performance that isn't coming. He's just one player who correctly thinks he can take the pi** out of all of us. Support him if you must but don't kid yourself. Hughes was right about him and so is Mancini. Beckenbauer was told by city fans that he knew nothing when he said of Robinho that he isn't a good player as he plays for himself and not the team and that he belongs in a circus. We were wrong. Beckenbauer was right.

I agree and disagree with this statement.

Whilst I would love to see Robbie running around giving 100% I know this is never going to happen but I could live with this if his contribution was up to scratch in areas I expect him to shine. I expect him to be spraying passes around all over the place and going past players as if they are not there but he is showing none of this and it is for this reason that he is doing my head in!

not read the whole thread so apologies if my point has already been made....

although i don't advocate selecting our side and formation around Robbie it is no surprise that his performances have tailed off since we changed to 4-4-2.

when we played 4-3-3 and he had ireland in the hole it created the correct formation to get the best out of him as a player breaks through the middle which creates space out wide forRobbie to exploit.

If you look at Fat Ron at Milan he has become a revelation, still well overwieght however he is scoring a bucket full as the line up is selected to get the best out of him.

problem for us is that Robbie isn't fit enough for us to start altering our formation and of course with carlos in great form plus ade away we can't play the 4-3-3 effectively.

as such at the moment Robbie is nothing but a bench impact player imo.

I am tired of hearing all this boll**ks about Robinho!

He is UNIFIT after recovering from injury.........when you are unfit you are not going to be tracking back making last ditch tackles (especially when this is not a part of your game anyway) like he was at least trying to do when he first came! Can you lot not see how much weight the guy has put on?

All this crap about he doesnt look interested is aload of crap too. He is having a massive crises of confidence at the moment, that doesn't meen he is not interested. I know he cost £32 MIL but he did not set that pricetag and we paid it for one of the worlds BETTER players........ players like him do not just turn shit over night!

We as fans need to stay behind all our players through good times and bad instead of constantly looking for scapegoats when all isn't going well!

RANT OVER!

P.s Bang in a hattrick on Tuesday Robbie and shut these moaning cnuts up!

So a "world class player" cannot adapt to different systems? Are we finished making excuses for him yet?

HE'S NOT BOTHERED!!

Send Robby Back to Brazil....

Last year when he was under a lot of pressure (i.e. the nightclub scandal and when people started criticising his form) he just popped off back home for a few days, let the media pressure blow over and then proved em wrong at the weekend (the hat-trick over stoke being a prime example).

I say we should send him home for a week, and tell him to start a fresh when he gets back.

He is a good player
