Judging this topic on the posts so far it seems that Rochdale and many other towns up & down the country started going downhill rapidly when Labour(the party for the working class) came to power in 97 and opened the immigration floodgate. Import people from the 3rd world, the country turns into the 3rd world.

So we had no immigration prior to 1997?
This country is a nation of immigrants, and always has been.
But by all means ingore that and blame Labour if it fits your simplistic worldview.
It's probably Labour's fault it's fucking raining as well,as the coalition clearly inherited this bad weather from them.

I do.

Of course we had immigration before 1997. It just used to be regulated and monitored prior to that.

That's why there are 150,000 failed asylum seekers still in the UK that the authorities can't trace.

Thank god I live in stockport(tin hat again).

Fucking hell - I wouldn't go that far.
Rochdale has gone downhill over the last 20 years or so,but then it is symptomatic of any former industrial town in the Greater Manchester conurbation.
Even Manchester city centre isn't the thriving hub it once was.
Stockport is a depressing place on a good day,and I'm surprised that there isn't a lengthy waiting list to jump off the railway viaduct.
The only redeeming feature is the A6,as it runs out of the hellhole.
And I don't blame it.

stockports a really nice place with some really nice areas- cheadle, bramhall, marple......if anything most of manchester is a shit hole, you only have to go through places like longsight, ardwick and other places to realise how much its gone doen hill
Shut it banana boy, or I'll fucking straighten ya ;)

Many of which are seeking asylum from oppressive regimes where we have backed puppet dictators, sold arms to both sides, then reduced their countries to rubble.
What goes around...

How do they know they are in the UK, if they cannot find them?
