Rodri Injury Updates | City say ligament injury (pg117)

I feel like they know exactly what the issue is. We never really get detailed statements anymore and I don’t think their vagueness is a clue on the severity. Think about Haaland last year. The assessments they’re making could be whether to have surgery today or tomorrow or something far more complex!

Which ligament though?
Medial ligament 6 or 7 weeks, ACL rest of the season.

I find it interesting that we haven't said which ligament.

Hopefully it's the Medial.
This is what Pep has said, albeit not in those words!

Paraphrasing, he said one Dr said it was very bad, and a long time, but another Dr said maybe not nearly so long as some think. Said the club would know for sure today, but it appears they’re keeping the injury close to the chest.

It might be ACL related but not as bad as feared. How come?

Remember Laporte had an ACL injury in 19/20 and recovered from it in 5 months. IIRC, he played vs SU away after being 5 months out, late January or early February, 2020.

If Rodri's injury is like Laporte's, he might be back in late February or March. Would be nice to play the last 3 months of the season with him in the team.

Correct. Played 20 games of that 19-20 season. Admittedly he was never quite the same after that. In 17/18 and 18/19 I really think he was the best CB in the Premier League alongside Van Dijk (for that time) but once he came back he was always second choice. Hopefully Rodri can retain more of his current self upon his return if it's an ACL tear after all.
