People would take advantage of this "minimum 5 years for assault" proposal as it would create a big FEAR factor amongst general hard working taxpayers, as in: i better not defend myself here because i could get sent down for 5yrs...
The scrotes will still assault and will take advantage of those who don't assault by bullying, stealing and minipulating.
And before I read the whole "reasonable force" argument, everyones definition of this is unique and thus prosecution can be administered by the CPS = (more laws the more targets they have to hit for funding)

That's what i was banned for in 2005, for one year. 'Goading' the away support and giving some copper a bit of verbal. It's 2010 and my access card is still blocked. Work that one out! It's all banter but if they don't like the look of you you'll be treated like a hooligan. Without meaning to get into an argument with you i disagree that this behaviour is moronic. Goading the away support is all part of the matchday expereince.

Peter Fletcher seems to think i'm a hooligan but i've never even met any 'firm' from City so i'm far from that. Yet the ban still remains regardless because of attitudes like this.

Not really, by the time they were got to court, they would have served 1 year, then of the 5 year stretch, 50% remission, time on remand = double, so max of 18 months if sent down for a five for.
As for the name & shame!!! campaign, we dont know what they are alleged to have done, it could be for an offence inside the ground or it could be that they were captured on CTV outside doing something but these were the better images (after all, if your picture was going to be broadcast accross the nation you would want it done in the best LIGHT?

You have missed the point the 5 years is the absolute minimum, no parole etc. You hit someone, you know the best your going to get away with is 5 years. Seriously hurt them and you might not see anything without bars in front for a decade or two.
