It's a second tier competition that has only become more celebrated because the likes of Liverpool and the rags have been in it so the media give it attention. Plus you get a second bite if you fail in the CL. So effectively you can enter five competitions while better sides can only enter four

Yeah clearly or we'd have signed him. I mean that we could have loaned him and sold for more than the 22m we'll be getting. Obviously a risk but City should be able to forecast trending market values and potentials. The kid was wanted by many clubs before going to Southampton.

Not the end of the world, just an observation.
