Sky just said "Nobody has won more than Chelsea in the last 20 years".

Is that true?
Probably.

FA Community Shield - 2 times (2005, 2009)
UEFA Champions League - 2 times (2011-2012, 2020-2021)
UEFA Europa League - 2 times (2012-13, 2018-19)
UEFA SuperCup - 1 time (2021)
FIFA Club World Cup - 1 times (2021)

Because Gill new rags would fail that if they didnt change it!

How do we know if it's brought in it won't be applied?
If you're asking about the PL matching UEFAs rules on contract length for FFP purposes then I've already answered that. Chelsea and the players (and their agents) would (rightfully) drag them though the courts if they tried to apply it retrospectively.

Probably.

Fair enough. Sounded like bollocks when they said it but it must be right.

I forgot just how much they cleaned up in the early 2000s.

Probably.

In terms of trophy count we will have equalled that in less than 13yrs if we win the UEFA supercup.

Premier League - 7 times (2011–12, 2013–14, 2017–18, 2018–19, 2020–21, 2021-22, 2022-23)

Quite an interesting comparison that. If you get rid of everything we've won the same, it's a choice of whose honours you'd rather have;

City

2 x Premier League
3 x League Cup
1 x Charity Shield

Chelsea

2 x FA Cup
1 x Champions League
2 x Europa League
1 x Super Cup
1 x FIFA World Club Cup

Chelsea's haul look more impressive at first glance but two Premier Leagues probably cancel out one Champions League. Then, I'd probably just edge Chelsea's continental trophies over or League Cups - but then we've got 7 years to add to it.

I'd take their extra CL because it should have been ours! But the Europa League is bollocks.

So World Club cup & Super cup. By Dec we would be in front

Honestly - I'd rather win that than the League Cup.

I wouldn't. It means you either didn't qualify for the CL or got kicked out at the group stage. It's a second tier competition that has only become more celebrated because the likes of Liverpool and the rags have been in it so the media give it attention. Before that when they were in the CL it was treated like the second rate competition it is.

Yep you can only actually qualify for it or win if you’re bad enough
Plus you get a second bite if you fail in the CL. So effectively you can enter five competitions while better sides can only enter four
The league cup, everyone enters. You don’t get dropped into the Johnson Paints if you’re knocked out early

If the fee is now £60m, city should get bout 12m. Obviously won’t know until the player is sold.

Does seem a bit underwhelming ya know. ~21m for a ~60m player.

Maybe we should stick to the loans for the top tier academy players.

We obviously didn’t rate him as a £60m player. And rightly so
It’s a pure gamble on potential at that price
Yeah clearly or we'd have signed him. I mean that we could have loaned him and sold for more than the 22m we'll be getting. Obviously a risk but City should be able to forecast trending market values and potentials. The kid was wanted by many clubs before going to Southampton.

Not the end of the world, just an observation.

20m for another kid that was never getting in the first team. Decent.
