Rooney Charged 2 game Ban

there not risking an extra ban for a frivilous appeal, its not like when they did it in the carling semi so rio(?) could play next day with no case, the ban could only be increased to three games in this instance if the panel feel the 2 game punishment isnt enough for the original offence. You are allowed to appeal otherwise the appeals process is meaningless and possibly unlawful.

WRONG.

The ban can be extended.

I think it's great how they're risking an extra game ban just for Rooney to play against 'ickle Citeh', shows how much they're worrying.

He's got no case though in my book, a huge bottle job by the FA when they let him off.
They did exactly the same last season with turdinand and he ended up getting an extra game because of it

I thought Wio appealed the offence itself not the length of the ban, that was why he got the extra ban.

Rooney Misses The Derby

Showing leniency for saying you are sorry would be ludicrous. My guess is that the 2 game ban will stand unless United produce some kind of compelling argument as to why he shouldn't be punished. And given that he has admitted to the charge I don't see how that is possible.

As someone said earlier..the FA will not undermine one of their own referees.
Referees need to know that the FA are behind them, by not implementing the full letter of their rules would be a kick in the teeth to refs around the country.

would be suprised if it went to a one game ban,fa isnt as corrupt as it used to be,fergies punishemnt proves that,5games touch ban is hell of alot,y is the appeal only one day after decision made by united???

Re: Rooney Misses The Derby

It doesn't matter whether he plays or he doesn't Bobby with have prepared for both situations. I say let him play, because if he does he will be upfront by himself presumably and after Vinnie K and Joleon have marked him out of the game , lets see the rags make excuses then. With it being United and with it being the fact that he could miss the game against us , he will get it reduced to one game, a game that he probably wouldn't have played much part in anyways.

I said it could be extended, im right actually, frivilous appeals are say if he appealed on a tuesday meaning they had to hear his case on the wednesday so he could therefore play on the tuesday night, using a technicality to stall the punishment. Cant happen here and ban will only be increased if they feel his swearing deserves more than 2 game ban, like in a real court if you appeal your sentence they can decide original punishment was too lenient.

He swears it wasn't him....d'oh!

Re: Rooney Misses The Derby

The second I heard it announced I said it'd get reduced.

People on here actually think the F.A have the bottle to ban a United player from a key game?... Clueless.

No, they are risking an extra ban. How can they not be? He is bang to rites, would have been sent off if seen by the ref (as statedby ref) and it's an automatic 2 game ban. You obviously don't understand the appeal process. It's nothing to do with the panel only giving it if they thought 2 wasn't enough. 2 game ban is in the rule book.

No you are wrong and don't understand what the meaning of a frivolous appeal is.

Re: Rooney Misses The Derby

They are not risking a further game ban, they are contesting the length of the ban to the offence which they admit.

Balotelli did exactly the same after his red card at West Brom. he didn't get an extra game.

Not every failed appeal results in an increase. You are aware of that. It's only increased if the FA deem it frivolous. Such as their being damning video evidence.

Re: Rooney Misses The Derby

Let him appeal and fail and get it upped to 3 then appeal the 3 game ban and get it reduced to 2..

Everyone comes out smelling of Roses ( lancs) of course.

As clubfoot said, it was not. I honestly can't recall when one was reduced. I've never seen this be successful. Anyone know of one?
