Rooney (MERGED)

This makes perfect sense, the few of you on this thread slagging City of for going for him need to take the blue tinted glasses off, he's one of the best players in the world and makes something happen every time he touches a football, easily when on form England's best player.

Wayne Rooney would take this football club to a level we've never seen, European dominance. Tevez and Rooney along with Ronaldo led United to a Champions League/ Premier League double in 2008, there's absolutely no reason why they couldn't do it here. I applaud the club for looking into this, people say we have too many strikers, bollocks I say, bin Adebayor, Jo and Santa Cruz, bring in Rooney, and we've got the best attacking force in world football by far.

It would also finish of Manchester United for good, whilst starting a new era here, makes perfect sense to me.

These things have happened in football before, look at Luis Figo joining Real Madrid from Barcelona in 2000. I believe City have had this in the pipeline for months and are on the verge of pulling something unbelievable off.

What so you think he is on form?

For rags? For Engerland?

Every time this fat scouse twat is supposed to single-handedly rip City apart he fails miserably.

Honestly this guy is a rag myth and they want us to fall for it with cash that will help them out of their much deserved debt scenario

Fuck him and fuck them
It's quite simple why he's not on form, he's had a huge bust up at the club and wants out.

Rag myth?, come of it mate, he was scoring 20 goals a season in his teens and scored 35 last season, single handily keeping United in contention for the title until the last day. He's a fantastic player.

Besides the most they'd get would be £50m, that's hardly gonna put a dent on that wonderful American debt.

For anyone saying they wouldn't want Rooney what about,

Tranny?

Gerrard?

Just wondering how many of the worlds best players we shouldn't take off our european competitors?

Can we really afford him with the ffp rules about to bite?

Personally I hope I never see him in a City shirt but the thought of a Welcome to Manchester poster with Tevez shaking Rooneys hand pleases me immensely.

I think someone else said it earlier in the thread too, but I imagine that simply by offloading the wages of RSC and Ade, it'd more than pay for Rooney's wages. His transfer fee would probably get close to paying for itself in marketing value alone if we go on to win major trophies in the next two or three years.

When we bid for Kaka, the bid was based on his marketing potential. Rooney's younger, and has a similar potential.

.

You do realise that players are being put on very long term contracts to lend a bit of breathing space. Or so I thought. Uefa can't force a wage cut for existing players without getting their arses sued. Which is why this speculation isn't far fetched.

I like Rooney the footballer. I love his attitude to the game. He's unselfish on the pitch and is a real team player, and a genius.

Forget the business off the pitch. It's his affair, and we don't know the rights and wrongs, circumstances. Not interested in it

The only issue as to whether City should bid for him is his ability as a player. And there's genuine doubt over what's gone wrong. Is he just p'ssed off with utd? I think there's more to it than that as his drop in form goes back to the march ankle injury. He was flying at that time with no hints of any issues with utd's management

We once bid for another great flair player who was still at his peak - Rodney marsh and it all went wrong. It doesnn't make sense to bid for another goal scorer when we have Tevez and Balotelli hasn't kicked a ball yet in the League

There is a very real possibility that signings in the future will be fully funded by specific endorsements from friendly companies ;-)

You could add Jo that as well. I know he's not one of the big earners but as they say at Tesco 'every little helps'

Plus it would be dead funny. Which is priceless,

Tevez is entirely different.

Burnt his bridges, burning resentment, bitterness towards all things red.

And ultimately a likeable character and a model pro.

Tevez never proclaimed he wanted to be the "next Ryan Giggs" either, never said he wanted to "end his career" at the scum.

Rooney is repulsive, and is the epitome of what is wrong with the modern 'professional'.

If he signed for us I'd cry and vomit simultaneously.

Some of you need to look in the mirror, would you happily welcome baconface with open arms tomorrow if given the chance?

Where do you draw the line?

Absolutely stinks.

Can't believe some of you are even entertaining the possibility of it.

Mate, most of us don't want it to happen and don't believe it will ever happen.
But work tomorrow will be funny as fuck. Happy Mondays!!

Where does all this stem from anyway?

And what was actually written?

I've refused to even read about it.

You have convinced yourself it's different but it's exactly the same.

IF Rooney joins us it will be because he hates United. Pure and simple.

Furthermore, I don't think he's the detestable character you make him out to be.

Imagine him scoring for us in a Derby.....I think it would be hilarious. I'm guessing you hate Denis Law then?
