Ross Barkley

Fun fact, Fernando has scored and assisted as many goals as Barkley this year (and Barkleys goal was probably an own goal really). Terrific return for an attacking midfielder

Imagine if Txiki ends up buying Barkley, Cresswell, Ljajjic and Naingggolan..

yeah love city mentioned those stats. Lopes was three times more effective

as for fernando in Pep, I dont think the passing stats matter. with fernando, the other cm has to literally come and take the ball of him. i really dont think he is technically good enough to play for a pep team

If we were hell bent on buying him, this would be the year. Sounds like he's had a very poor season.

Which is worrying. Still, I think he has more talent by far than Wilshere. His mentality is my only question.

At 20/21 yrs old he's clearly very talented. I'm sure he'd be better with the likes of Silva + Yaya finding him more often.

Those saying he's crap are just dumb. We need other signings, 'marque' ones, but Barkley would be a good addition at the right price (one with a ton of add ons)

If you just count league games.

Which if you do, Iniesta is behind the both of them.

Stats, eh?

The price we're going to get and paying the "English premium" would mean this probably ends up being between 30-40m, maybe even more. Way too much for a player who's definitely not crap but only shows short glimpses of brilliant play and mostly unproven.

James McCarthey always looks ten times the player Barkley is, he just isn't english or a big strong lad. He consistently does an awful lot more to a significantly higher standard

That seems to be our transfer policy nowadays.

☑ Big
☑ Strong
☑ Athletic
☑ Technically limited
☑ Overpriced

Astonishing we're running by men who oversaw the great Barcelona team when you look at some of our signings/targets.

That Barcelona did inherit Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Valdes, Puyol, Pedro, Busquets and co, you could have added a load of 14 year old to that team and probably still would have done great.

Txiki's transfer business was very patchy at Barcelona if you look at his history, and don't forget he would have played a part in losing both Pique and Fabregas to United and Arsenal respectively only for the club to spend around 50m bringing them back.

Txiki is here primarily because of the implementation of a philosophy throughout the club.

Barkley would be a good Milner replacement but only if he was bought for 15m-20m, if we and up blowing 30m-40m on him we may as well accept we are heading into Europa League status.

And worse of all, if we did sign Barkley for that amount it blocks Lopes route to the first team.
