I realised yesterday what the plan was. players with prem experience, expect tevez, rsc, lescott, toure and michael owen. i reckon the marquee signing is tevez. the owner wasn't lying when he said we won't be spending big

personally i was hoping for villa, aguero, silva, but i guess i was taken in by the hype.

i'm gutted tbh. i think we will get 8th

Id be a bit more optimistic if i were you, we would be a very strong side with them and believe we could push the top 4.

Re: RSC is signing today

I'll be happy with a front 3 of Robbie, Tevez and Santa Cruz, with Boji and Tiger Woods on the bench. Quality is that.

Look at the big 4...

Arsenal - Arshavin, Adebayor, Van Persie, Bender

Liverpool - Torres, Gerrard, Kuyt, Babel

Scum - Tranny, Rooney, Berbaflop, Macheda, Wellbeck

Chelsea - Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Malouda

(City) - Santa Cruz, Robinho, Tevez, Bellamy, Bojinov

Could be a lot worse.

Just thought i'd check out the facts rather than the suppositions, his career stats are as follows.

Appearances 235
Goals 67
About 1 in every 3.5 games

Interestingly under Mark Hughes at Blackburn played 57 and scored 23 or 1 in every 2.4 games. very handy indeed.

I'm undecided about him but he would clearly pose a different threat from what we have now and who we are being linked with.

Hmmm.Let's look a little deeper at that "1 in 3.5 games."

He managed 13 league goals from 21 games for Olimpia Asunción in season 98-99.
He then went to Bayern and scored 31 goals in 155 league appearances between 1999-2007.
He had by far his most productive season at Blackburn scoring 19 league goals in 37 games-then reverted to type last season scoring 4 in 20.

So...67 goals in 233 games.

Looks reasonable to the naked eye.....except that the vast majority of that amount have come over a period of only two seasons-his first season in Paraguay and his first at Blackburn.
The guy's record in 6 seasons at Bayern-playing alongside some quality players-was incredibly average.
He showed little sign last season of showing the form of his first.

Average.Average.And once again-Average.

Most games at Bayern were from the bench and for the last 10mins or so... These count as games played but dont reflect a true reflection on his ability. He fell out of favour at Bayern due to a fall out with the boss then he had to knock Podolski out the team and that wasnt going to happen when he is a German international is it!

Don't start putting facts into the argument, you'll ruin everything..

Re: RSC is signing today

guys santa cruz is a quality player and the sort of different striker we need at city i.e. a target man who can win balls. watch him bang them in next year. we cant just have a team of midgets

Looks like some people have got their new boo boy already.

Not a boo-boy mate.

Merely a player we've spent far too long chasing and are placing way too much emphasis on the "as long as he stays fit for my liking.
The stats just don't warrant the hefty price tag or the effort for a very ordinary player IMO.

It's not fooking football manager it's real football.

fucking stats are pointless. It's the added dimension he will give us. An extra option. Can hold it up and bring our dynamic players into the game. Will get on the end of loose balls in the box.. Fooking stats. Does my head in.

It's a perfect fit for the way we are going to play next year. How many moves broke down at the apex last season because Big Phil was offside or fell over his laces?

We'll win ugly next year when things aren't going right and that's the sign of a good team

Re: RSC is signing today

What is so special about RSC? He was terrible in Bayern.

Spot on sdavros, spot on!

Re: RSC is signing today

This is a depressing thread, cant believe we are even considering a guy who is a crock, I wasnt that impressed by him in his apparent glorious season under Hughes, he didnt win the golden boot or terrorise defences did he! For shits sake whrere is our ambition! Does Hughes have any scouting network at all? I logged on hoping to read about Tevez or a genuine quality player being linked to us and read we might be buying this pile of turd. I want to see us bring real talent to the club, players who would get in Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea's teams. Not has beens who never were Bridge, Bellamy, fucking Santa Cruz. Why not get Aguero, Athletico didnt make the Champs league spots, Benzema, Bojan, Pato, up and coming future world stars.

Re: RSC is signing today

I can just imagine all the same characters posting the same crap if Hughes had signed Bianchi for Blackburn & Sven had signed RSC for City! "Why haven't we gone for Bianchi?" etc etc squeal moan whinge.

RSC is one of the forwards we've struggled against most in the PL. He has Dunne & co for breakfast. He's good at almost everything a big striker should be If he turns out to be crocked then our doctors should pull the deal, end of. If not he's a great option in the SQUAD. Note use of the word SQUAD.

We need to sign a goalscorer as well, IF we can get a quality one.
