The thing I've always found at rugby league matches is if it kicks off, it will usually just be between a few blokes with everyone around them laughing at them (I saw a man dressed as a smurf lead 4 rows of seats to fight a leprechaun at the challenge cup final a few years ago) or not bothering with them. If that happened at a football match every child-cum-badman would be piling in having a dig.
I think it helps that league itself is a bit of a niche sport, it isn't as widespread as most of the other sports in the UK so you can immediately get on with someone who is a fan of the sport on the whole rather than the individual teams- like someone said before there will be teams of all the clubs(not just super league clubs) at the grand final tomorrow and if its anything like the previous 4 Ive been to there wont be trouble.
Edit: PS all union players are definite homs.
