Rugby Union Six Nations 2023

Grand slam in the bag hopefully not peaking too early. A great squad to call on now. With the injuries a lot of players stood up in vital areas from Conor Murray to the countless guys in the pack. This squad could be our greatest squad even when the replacements come in they know what is expected of them.

World Cup up and coming Ireland in the group of death. With 3 of the world's top 5 teams in it. I just hope we can go on and win it as we have kicked onto a level I didn't expect but we have a great bunch of players coming through the Rugby Union looks very promising for Ireland for years to come.

Under 20’s tomorrow.

Having caught up, ITV can be proud of themselves for their scheduling to mean they didn't show the presentation of the trophies. Idiots.

There was an Eng-Ire match a couple of years ago where there was an early sending off and it played out very similarly with the 14-man team coming up short.

There have been a few incidents where the rules for head hits lead to only one outcome.

I did think it appeared to be a harsher one, but don't really get the 'self-defence' claim that was put forward - there was no real danger to Steward.
Also it allowed masking of the limited rugby style on display.

Agree. Feel a bit of sympathy for him but it's a red card. As the referee said, no mitigation, clear line of sight and he had time to turn his shoulder while remaining upright.

That was it for me - if he stands unturned, he gets hit in the midriff. The Ireland player might hit his hip, but that would be about the worst that would happen.

Everyone knows that head hit regs are harsh, yet there is always a lot of whining about them every time the refs apply them!

The studio people at halftime were instructive - Woodward doing his usually red-rose-tinted flailing without much solid base for what he was saying, and the Irishman (can't recall who, but a recently retired player, I think) saying "but that's what the rules are now".
