Running thread

Haven't been to this thread in a while as I didn't want to annoy myself. I've had to stay in for 2 weeks after coming back to Ireland from Manchester. Only 6 days to go until I can get going again but not looking forward to that first run......

Unless its winter or below about 5 deg C, its pointless wearing a water proof for shorter runs (less than 5 miles), Even more stupid in this weather. You'll boil and get wetter with the sweat than the rain. How often do you see a football match with the players wearing raincoats?

true, very true. used to run in a sweatsuit.

Thank you!.

Are they quite giving on sizings?
Compression tops are not meant to be giving. I'm a 38-40 chest and wear a medium. They are meant to be skin tight all over or they wouldn't be doing their job of cooling your body / wicking sweat away. I wear a UA vanish tee over the top. They are bloody brilliant running tops btw.

Tried this running with my heart rate between 130-140, average pace was 10.2 mins per mile. First time I've ever done it and had to walk up some of the hills to keep the HR below 140. Didn't feel natural but was obviously a lot easier. Usually run at around 8 mins per mile so was quite a bit slower. Is it likely that my speed will start to increase over time or am I stuck at this pace forever? Do people mix it up with a weekly faster run?

Not posted for while as just been plodding along 3 5ks a week, usually around 30 mins, sometimes struggling to go further. This morning decided to mix it up a bit so ran 8 mins, walked 2. Ended going over 4 miles in under 50 mins and felt ok

You should find that you are able to run faster within the same HR as time passes.
I mix it up with sprint intervals twice a week.
