Running thread

Easy 4 miles before work. Well meant to be easy, really struggled to get going. Stopped at 2.5 and just reset myself. Felt leggy, struggled to get breathing right and no rhythm at all

I decided to run up and down a massive hill yesterday

The very man! I'm training for a HM in May but have to spend occasional days with work in East London on a project (staying in Bexleyheath). Any recommendations of routes/areas to run in around there without getting mugged/killed in the evening or early morning?

haha

If you're around East London, then Stratford area is good to run (by the stadium) i do 10k races there, worth looking into and they do midweek evening ones.

Bexleyheath has Danson Park, it's huge and great for running - and does Parkruns there on Saturdays

If you want to venture other places - then there is Dartford Park, Shorne Woods and Swanley Park - all also have Parkruns

That's great - thanks. I'll check those out next time I'm down.

Did Stretford Parkrun this morning for the first time in a while as I reckoned it would be a less muddy option compared with Peel Park.
Completed it in 30:08 which was a course PB.
Now looking forward to the Blue Run next Saturday.

I understand mate. Sometimes it just goes like this and there seems to be little explanation.

I've just had a cutback week where I only did short jogs but I found them really hard! After that, I should have - in theory - been bouncing along on my LSR this morning but it was hard work right from the start!

Easy 10k this morning, really enjoyed it. Good luck to anyone running today. I've been supporting a mate running HM this morning. Never ran before in his life until Christmas so sent him training plan etc. Can't believe I'm typing that I don't even consider myself a runner lol.

I'm the same. I've still got imposter syndrome when I turn up for Parkruns as if I'm crashing someone else's party. Yet, I'm also finding myself giving other novice runners running tips!

Still no information on my HM at weekend even though have emailed twice and messaged on social media. No idea what start time is, what wave I'm in, what time bag drop opens/closes, unable to organise travel, not sure about toilets, water etc. Nervous enough as it is I like to be organised. Edited to say replied now with details

Just did my last training run before the "Blue Run" on Saturday.
Ran from Castlefield Basin to Salford Quays (adjacent to Gnome Island) and back via the Bridgewater Canal, Mark Addy footbridge and the Irwell / Ship Canal paths. At my turning point I remembered to make a suitable gesture towards the swamp.
